That's a true story. He was already selected for the part, but they couldn't get a hold of Keith because he had no "permanent address."
When they did locate him, he flew to Chicago. As he arrived out in front of the casting joint, there was a long line of pool players, hoping to get stand-in parts. They were paying $50 a day just to stand in the background of various movie scenes, which in '86 was not so bad.
Keith pulls up, gets out of the car, and walks right on it. I forget his exact words. I'll have to ask him, but it was a funny quip that he barked at the pool players who were hoping to get a stand-in part. Poor fellows were standing in line all day, and Keith gets out, barks at them, and walked right on in like he owned the joint. LOL :grin:
You use race ALL the time. When someone disagrees with you especially about manufacturing in China, or like I have done, posted news stories that do not shine a favorable light... its racist. You need to learn the application and meaning of the word.

I hate stating the obvious, but you are psychotic. I also believe it was 2009, but the date is irrelevant. Mark is allowed to sell anything he wants in the pool hall. I did say the case I had was good for what it did. It transported cues back and forth. I did use it, it was the only case I could sacrafice for no loss if it got stolen. Why would I not use it. It was to carry two cues that I could sell, or cues I picked up. Could have been any case, BUT while at Marks he gave it to me to carry two cues to photograph. So I had it, and I used it. I have a few cases here for that reason. its NEVER been offered for sale by me, nor has any of the others, BY ME.

Again, I can praise something made overseas, I just don't spend money on ALL of them. I can praise my Vizio TV, my Asus laptop, again, there will always be a time where you have no choice but to buy foreign.

Fake concern? my apologies if my ranting sounds like its a little concern for the people, and less like me being repulsed by the government and businesses that go there. Believe me, like you do not sympathize with the US soldiers, I do not sympathize with those that do not rise up. The difference is when I am standing its with the people I swore allegiance to.
Why would I knock Jack? His rivets might have always been made in China, or maybe the PVC tubes were. So what? Case is still assembled here. I do not believe there is anyone stateside setup to do what he needs.
My moral positions? Yeah ok. Lets see.. if China unionized and you started to lose money fabricating cases you would be the FIRST person to jump ship and leave all those lovely people, that are only there to earn a living and go right to Bangledesh or Vietnam. So don't measure morals with me. The only reason you don't think you should put "Made in" labels on goods is because you can't win that battle. Not only should the product say made in.. it should say Made by...

Not true. I read the stories and analyze them and then give my perspective on them from the ground in China. As a person who has lived here for going on seven years I have some experience of life at the ground level. When you take a story about one incident and apply that to the whole race as you have often done then THAT is racist.
For example if I found a news story where some white men in the USA beat up a black man and posted it on AZB and said that this proves that all white people in the USA are racists I would of course be wrong.
I have said hundreds of times on here that China has issues. And I have asked you what you would do to solve them and you have never once offered any positive solution to help China get to whatever standard of being that America is at, which you think is the ONLY way to exist in the world. Not once have you said how you would manage 1.5 billion people and change the country for the better. Although you act like you are concerned for the Chinese people you advocate steps to harm them, including the most heinous, saying you would gladly, joyfully, gleefully, in a heartbeat kill 10 million of them if it meant that you could have full employment in the United States.

Protesting wrongful government action is exactly what America is founded on. It's enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution of the United States.

You deal in speculation. Chamberlain made a statement of fact. He stated that we do not make our own interiors. The fact that we DO make our own interiors is a cornerstone of our business and something our customers rely on. So any time anyone wants to make such statements of fact which are untrue I will report that person and ask that the moderators intervene.
You are smart enough to merely cast aspersions, many of them, unrelentingly. Of course you have also made statements of fact that are completely untrue and not been called on it by moderators because I do not report you for every time you make an unfounded accusation. So Joe, it is my unalienable right to protest the actions of my government and in fact it's my patriotic duty to question and protest the actions which are not in keeping with the values our republic, the one you swore allegiance to, is founded. America IS the republic, not the government. You swore allegiance to the social contract the founders signed and your duty as a patriot would be to hold that contract as sacred and view ALL government actions, including wars in light of it. Going to war in Iraq and Afghanistan is not in keeping with the principles that America was founded upon in my opinion and in the opinions of a large part of the United States citizenry.
However many of my friends disagree with me and they do not use my opinion to persecute me throughout this forum. They do no practice forms of yellow journalism that is long on sensation and hype and short on facts to stir the pot and defame others. But what they are, which you are not, is sincere in their beliefs.
Because if you are going to criticize me or anyone for making things in China then you have to INCLUDE everyone who makes things in China. If you say I use slave labor, as you have said many times, if you say I exploit the human condition as you said above, then you have to include Jack in that condemnation.
As for the parts he uses all of them are available in the United States. There are hundreds of plastic extruders who can easily make the tubes. Ron Thomas can tell Jack where to have them made because he has plastic tubes and sewn liners made in the USA. Surely you don't honestly think that no one in the entire United States can make the embroidered bags that Jack now has made in China. Do I need to do the research and price all this out for you as well?
The point is that not can these items be made in the USA they SHOULD be made in the USA if one is going to promote themselves heavily with the Made in USA marketing slogan. And someone like you should be applying pressure to Jack to do that by INCLUDING him in your condemnation of foreign made goods.

I guess that fits your idea more than the REAL story which is that I got the bug to make cases again so I cleared out my living room, borrowed a sewing machine from my girlfriend's mother, went to the fabric market and the hardware store and started building cases again. And from there it's grown into a little staff of 15 in a dedicated space with the capacity to make just about anything we want.
Included in this is the fact that I have invested a lot of time into training my staff and I could no more pick up and move ten miles down the road than to move to another country because I would lose my skilled staff who are now specialists in cue case making. Stop equating me with multi-national corporations.
Yes it's them and not me. That is the problem when you have too many partners and all of them want to be the boss. I let people in on my vision and they wanted to go a different direction. Doesn't matter, they are still making money with the brand and I was able to liquidate my stake and leave with the experience I built up.
There are many stories in business where the founder is forced out of his original company by the investors. Happens every day. In some cases the founder then goes on to create an even better company and this is what I am in the process of doing.
The whole story is online in various places and anyone is free to look it up. The short version is that I insisted on two things, complete authority over quality and design and complete control over the American market. I did all that I said I would do but the loss of power was too much for one faction and they endeavored to undermine me leading to my ultimate departure.
I have not taught any Asian company how to knock anything off. I have taught Jiasen how to make cases according to MY standards just like I would teach any company in the world how to produce items to my standards if such instruction were needed. Again though, you don't mention that Jack came to China to teach a factory how to build cases. If you really want to go there what makes you think that they would not apply whatever Jack teaches them to other cases?
