Jeanette Lee in Fox Sports List

Fox Sports listed Jeanette Lee as the 5th most feared person in sports.

Odd list.
I think Lee would be about fifth in her own sport much less all of them.

Out of this list Takeru Kobayashi has to be the most feared. Others at least have chances. In his sport the "others" KNOW they are going for 2nd.

they must be thinking that jeanette might bite allison's ear off next time she get beaten by her

I have pictured them together but it was more nibbling than biting!!

Now we all know that Allison Fisher and Karen Corr are the most intimidating women on the WPBA. They are certainly not the most feared pool players to play... I think Efren would fall into that category, if anyone.

Lee is listed because she is more recognised in the general public than any other pool player. It's not because of her game; it's because of her looks and her moniker. I've walked into bars where people have said "You look like that Black Widow lady!" and have even thought I was her. Apparently in redneck America minorities all look the same. And what she would be doing in some bar in Alabama or Georgia is beyond me! These same people don't know her real name, Jeanette Lee, and that she isn't the number one player in the world... They don't know who Allison Fisher, Karen Corr, Corey Deuel, Efren Reyes, or Johnny Archer is, or any other pool player, male or female, for that matter... They don't know who Jennifer Baretta is and she's in more magazines than Lee lately!

What they "know" is that the Black Widow is the best pool player in the world and that she could beat any man or woman on a pool table.

Jeanette Lee is the most recognized firgure in pool because she worked her butt off to achieve that status. When Jeanette burst onto the pro tour 12 years ago a lot of people didn't like her or her attitude. She did not let that discourage her. She has also had many problems away from the table physically, and personally. She's fought through all of that and has still remained in the top 10 throughout that time period. If she has not been in magazines lately, it must be because she and George have been blessed with a wonderful child that Jeanette (despite all of her commitments) has put Cheyenne as the top priority in her life - for life. Not just for now, forever. Jeannette Lee is the most recognized figure in pool because she went out there and earned it by trying to get pool more exposure. Pool wouldn't be in the sad state that it is if every professional player worked as hard as Jeannette to get pool exposure in the mainstream media. She has always been a great ambassador for pool, and she has never turned down a request for a photo with a fan or an autograph request. Jeanette epitomizes class. The rest of the players you mentioned should watch Jeannette and start taking notes.

BTW - Jeannette would probably go to those bars in Georgia or Alabama and win everybody over because she loves people (no matter who they are or where they are from.)

I was by no means putting her down. Jennifer Barretta gets tons of exposure and is not a household name as Jeanette Lee is. She hasn't been in the news lately because of her back and her surgery. And I don't care if she hasn't been in magazines lately. She's taking care of not only her health, but a family.

People familiar with pool don't think of Jeanette as the most intimidating person in pool, which is what that list states. That list reflect the opinion of people not familiar with the sport. If that list had been in a billiards magazine, it would have looked a lot different.

I know she wins people over wherever she goes. She's friendly and charsmatic, not as a pool player, but as a person in general. If she weren't a professional pool player, she'd be winning people over anyway. I was saying why she would go to some dive bar in Smith Station or Bibb City is beyond me.

You misconstrued everything in my post and twisted it around like I was attacking Jeanette, which is not what I was doing.

I didn't mention you in my post. I just added some things you left out about Jeannette and though I did take offense to the fact that you said rednecks think we all look alike - I didn't address it.

Your post was not a slam at Jeannette, but you started comparing her to people - and that just wasn't fair. If Fox wants to say that Jeannette is the most feared player in pool, why should we care? If it draws people to the game - then let it. I also pointed out that Jeannette has been in the top 10 longer than any other player - including Karen and Allison - despite everything she has been through.

Have you ever been to a WPBA event? Have you ever seen the crowds that Jeannette draws? Its an amazingly beautiful scene to watch - the way she carries herself and presents herself combined with the way she relates to all of her fans on a personal level - despite her celebrity status. Your post sort of shrugged that off - ok? I'm sorry that I noticed that.

You brought this up, so I'll address it (at the risk of giving you more attention than you deserve) - Quit thinking that every thread has something to do with you and quit making every thread something about you. Like I told you a few days ago.. stop!!! As bluntly as I can possibly put this.... if you don't want people calling you an attention whore, stop acting like one. That might hurt your feelings, but that is how you are acting - whether or not you realize it - many of us do. I have defended you in the past, and I have spoken with you privately about this - but you don't stop. This thread was about Jeannette - now - it will be about Marissa. Why can't you see that? It gets annoying - and as your friend - it gets impossible to defend you when you keep doing it over and over.

She did say "redneck america" and "minorities" and I will second that. Subtle ignorance is more prevelant in today's society. I hate being called spanish and asked if I speak mexican.

I think Kobe and Sonya should be the top two. All those guys know they can't beat them. I watched the u.s. open for competitive eating and one guy watched kobe eat, the guy hardly ate anything. As for jeanette I believe she looks meaner on the table than any of the others. She "looks" intimidating. How many other WPBA players have that look? Jennifer is getting recognition because she has 5 million men looking at her in a bikini in playboy. Don't get me wrong jennifer's game is strong but intimidating, nah, pretty face, gorgeous body, most definitely. Sports and the entertainment business go hand in hand with their popularity contests, who looks better, with whom, with what, and where.

What?!?! How does posting my opinion about relevant subject matter make me trying to vie for attention??? You quoted me, therefore I naturally assumed you were addressing my post. This thread is about Jeanette's mention in the Fox Most Feared List, which is what I wrote about. More specifically, I was replying to Frankncali's post, but I'm sure others shared that same thought. I didn't start the thread, but this is a public forum and I posted my opinion, just as other members are doing.

I don't know why Jeanette would be on this list, she's not on top of her sport and pool isn't a sport where you really try to intimidate your opponent anyway. I like Mike Tyson for the number one pick, at least Mike Tyson in his prime ;) I remember watching some of his old highlights and seeing one of his opponents start crying in between rounds, I mean all out pouting like a four year old schoolgirl! This is another grown man and a pro boxer at that with tears streaming down his face in front of 20,000 fans on pay per view...now thats intimidation!

What did you mean by saying this? Jeanette Lee is an amazing player. She just happens to also be a beautiful, smart, caring woman. She has busted her behind to overcome a condition that keeps her in excruciating pain. Despite all of that, she wins a majority of the matches she plays. So it IS because of her game. She didn't just show up and throw on a bikini and turn heads. She earned the position she holds in the eyes of the public. It's no picnic to play Jeannette at any tournament. Ask around.

Her "real name" is Jeanette Breedlove, pka "Jeanette Lee" aka "The Black Widow" (not knockin off the George - that's just what they call her). I'm pretty sure she isn't losing sleep over this.

Marissa, go to some of the women's tour events, like the WPBA or any tour for that matter. Its a different environment altogether.

As far as your "Redneck America" comment - all it does is feed both sides of the sterotypes. To me, my heritage is not a handicap it's who I am. There are ignorant people from all walks of life - not just "Redneck America" - wherever that may be. By bringing that into this topic - it does nothing but accentuate that ignorance - and how that relates to the topic (Jeannette Lee on Fox Sports List) escapes me. You may not agree with me- but that's ok. Just because someone doesnt agree with you on certain subjects does not mean that they hate you or that they are out to get you. It just means that they disagree with you. Ok?

She is called the Black Widow after all.
Why is Mike Tyson number one?
He's a bum now. Has been for the last 5 years really.

I think, all things considered, that I would have to agree with Stray Bullet that JL is certainly very intimidating to her opponents. Though Allison and Karen are drawing bigger crowds now than a couple of years ago, it is usually Jeanette's matches that have the largest crowd in the venue whether it be WPBA or DCC - (she had the largest crowds at DCC 2 years ago when she competed). Last year at DCC, Jeanette did not play, but when she arrived to sweat a match, the throng of fans around here was larger than around any of the matches on 30-some tables. This HAS to be somewhat intimidating to the opponents.

In addition (and perhaps the female posters can address this) there is the issue of dress and appearance. I have always thought that women dress as much to compete with each other as to attract the attention of men. JL usually wins that competition. I have seen tons of her matches and am impressed by how poorly some women and men will play when JL is the opponent. Speaking from personal experience, I think that more men would be intimidated by Jeanette than by Karen or Allison.

I also think that there is no one on the WPBA that is as fierce a competitor as JL. Her opponents know that she does NOT give up, and has an incredible desire to win. Just my .02.

I'm with Marissa on this one!

She said nothing wrong...a personal anecdote and some truthful comments. I don't get the hostility.

Quit picking hairs and let someone say a few words in a public forum without such painful psychoanalytic scrutiny.

It was a stupid list. Jeanette's been a great ambassador. Anyone who's made a point contrary to this would be an idiot.

I wonder if I could start a flame war thread if I proclaimed that grass was green.

We all know that Jeanette isn't the best player in the world but she's certainly the most recognized pool player in this country. Fox Sports mentioned her on their list. That's probably good for pool.

Thanks for clarifying everything for us. What would we do without you??? Do you know that you're wrong?

Painful psychoanylitical scrutiny...hmmmm... pot calling the kettle black ass or what?

It was a stupid list. Jeanette's been a great ambassador. Anyone who's made a point contrary to this would be an idiot.

Whats the use????

Dear Dr. Colin

Im not picking hairs. I was not being hostile. I posted some things about Jeanette that I thought Marissa should know about her. Quit playing this game where you try to act intellectually superior to everyone. You're only impressing yourself - and looking like an idiot in the process. It's annoying. How's that for being psychoanalytical? You're welcome. No need to respond, no need for a PM - you're defending Marissa in hopes that someday you might get some. So quit trying to paint me as a mean person - and dont you dare try to insinuate that I don't know what I'm talking about because I'll embarrass you and I'll do it with a smile on my face. The Redneck America statement she made was ridiculous. Not being of Asian heritage (Living in China doesnt count) you wouldn't understand where I am coming from - but Marissa does - so I pointed it out to her. Once again - thanks for trying to take another cheap shot at me - Here's all your ammunition - go cry to Mike and go tell on me - tell him how hostile I am... Wahhhhhhhhhhhh. Once again we have another thread go into the dumper for the same reason. Imagine that. I think I've more than scrutinized your scrutinization.

PS: Nobody like a pompous pain in the ass - just a tip.

I don't think I've ever PM'd anyone with a personal complaint, nor have I ever PM'd Mike about such matters. As a superficial male, I actually find you hotter than Marissa, so it's not like I'm out to find some pants to fit into, I could do that for US$30 here if if I were desperate, ...I just think you were being needlessly hostile to her.

I don't care much that much about it, but seems she's getting the lion's share of criticisms these days.

And don't play that asian crap on me, it's as stupid as the 'aussie shoulder chip' crap.

Speaking as a southern redneck, I'd like to say y'all look the same to me.

I'll clarify by saying when i say "y'all" I mean blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, and any other minority or majority I may have left out. Furthermore I mean you look the same, cause after enough beers y'all just look kinda fuzzy round the edges.

Pardon me while I open the front door of my trailer, grab a beer from the fridge on the porch and tune into Jerry Springer in the hopes I can see some of my kin. BTW you are all invited over, I don't care who ya are, or what you look like - just bring your own beer.

I had a point at one time.

I have been with Asian ladies who look nothing at all like Jeanette and they have been mistaken for her. One time the lady i was with told the clueless dude that yes she was the Black Widow. I had to tell him she was kidding. Marissa is a dead ringer compared to this girl so i buy it completely.
