Sweet Marissa said:Now we all know that Allison Fisher and Karen Corr are the most intimidating women on the WPBA. They are certainly not the most feared pool players to play... I think Efren would fall into that category, if anyone.
Lee is listed because she is more recognised in the general public than any other pool player. It's not because of her game; it's because of her looks and her moniker. I've walked into bars where people have said "You look like that Black Widow lady!" and have even thought I was her. Apparently in redneck America minorities all look the same. And what she would be doing in some bar in Alabama or Georgia is beyond me! These same people don't know her real name, Jeanette Lee, and that she isn't the number one player in the world... They don't know who Allison Fisher, Karen Corr, Corey Deuel, Efren Reyes, or Johnny Archer is, or any other pool player, male or female, for that matter... They don't know who Jennifer Baretta is and she's in more magazines than Lee lately!
What they "know" is that the Black Widow is the best pool player in the world and that she could beat any man or woman on a pool table.
I was by no means putting her down. Jennifer Barretta gets tons of exposure and is not a household name as Jeanette Lee is. She hasn't been in the news lately because of her back and her surgery. And I don't care if she hasn't been in magazines lately. She's taking care of not only her health, but a family.straybullet said:Jeanette Lee is the most recognized firgure in pool because she worked her butt off to achieve that status. When Jeanette burst onto the pro tour 12 years ago a lot of people didn't like her or her attitude. She did not let that discourage her. She has also had many problems away from the table physically, and personally. She's fought through all of that and has still remained in the top 10 throughout that time period. If she has not been in magazines lately, it must be because she and George have been blessed with a wonderful child that Jeanette (despite all of her commitments) has put Cheyenne as the top priority in her life - for life. Not just for now, forever. Jeannette Lee is the most recognized figure in pool because she went out there and earned it by trying to get pool more exposure. Pool wouldn't be in the sad state that it is if every professional player worked as hard as Jeannette to get pool exposure in the mainstream media. She has always been a great ambassador for pool, and she has never turned down a request for a photo with a fan or an autograph request. Jeanette epitomizes class. The rest of the players you mentioned should watch Jeannette and start taking notes.
BTW - Jeannette would probably go to those bars in Georgia or Alabama and win everybody over because she loves people (no matter who they are or where they are from.)

What?!?! How does posting my opinion about relevant subject matter make me trying to vie for attention??? You quoted me, therefore I naturally assumed you were addressing my post. This thread is about Jeanette's mention in the Fox Most Feared List, which is what I wrote about. More specifically, I was replying to Frankncali's post, but I'm sure others shared that same thought. I didn't start the thread, but this is a public forum and I posted my opinion, just as other members are doing.straybullet said:I didn't mention you in my post. Your post was not a slam at Jeannette, but you started comparing her to people - and that just wasn't fair. If Fox wants to say that Jeannette is the most feared player in pool, why should we care? If it draws people to the game - then let it. I also pointed out that Jeannette has been in the top 10 longer than any other player - including Karen and Allison - despite everything she has been through.
Have you ever been to a WPBA event? Have you ever seen the crowds that Jeannette draws? Its an amazingly beautiful scene to watch - the way she carries herself and presents herself combined with the way she relates to all of her fans on a personal level - despite her celebrity status. Your post sort of shrugged that off - ok? I'm sorry that I noticed that.
You brought this up, so I'll address it (at the risk of giving you more attention than you deserve) - Quit thinking that every thread has something to do with you and quit making every thread something about you. Like I told you a few days ago.. stop!!! As bluntly as I can possibly put this.... if you don't want people calling you an attention whore, stop acting like one. That might hurt your feelings, but that is how you are acting - whether or not you realize it - many of us do. I have defended you in the past, and I have spoken with you privately about this - but you don't stop. This thread was about Jeannette - now - it will be about Marissa. Why can't you see that? It gets annoying - and as your friend - it gets impossible to defend you when you keep doing it over and over.

MARISSA, HIDE!!! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!
She said nothing wrong...a personal anecdote and some truthful comments. I don't get the hostility.
Thanks for clarifying everything for us. What would we do without you??? Do you know that you're wrong?
Quit picking hairs and let someone say a few words in a public forum with such painful psychoanalytic scrutiny.
Painful psychoanylitical scrutiny...hmmmm... pot calling the kettle black ass or what?
It was a stupid list. Jeanette's been a great ambassador. Anyone who's made a point contrary to this would be an idiot.
I don't think I've ever PM'd anyone with a personal complaint, nor have I ever PM'd Mike about such matters. As a superficial male, I actually find you hotter than Marissa, so it's not like I'm out to find some pants to fit into, I could do that for US$30 here if if I were desperate, ...I just think you were being needlessly hostile to her.straybullet said:Whats the use????
Dear Dr. Colin
Im not picking hairs. I was not being hostile. I posted some things about Jeanette that I thought Marissa should know about her. Quit playing this game where you try to act intellectually superior to everyone. You're only impressing yourself - and looking like an idiot in the process. It's annoying. How's that for being psychoanalytical? You're welcome. No need to respond, no need for a PM - you're defending Marissa in hopes that someday you might get some. So quit trying to paint me as a mean person - and dont you dare try to insinuate that I don't know what I'm talking about because I'll embarrass you and I'll do it with a smile on my face. The Redneck America statement she made was ridiculous. Not being of Asian heritage (Living in China doesnt count) you wouldn't understand where I am coming from - but Marissa does - so I pointed it out to her. Once again - thanks for trying to take another cheap shot at me - Here's all your ammunition - go cry to Mike and go tell on me - tell him how hostile I am... Wahhhhhhhhhhhh. Once again we have another thread go into the dumper for the same reason. Imagine that. I think I've more than scrutinized your scrutinization.
PS: Nobody like a pompous pain in the ass - just a tip.
