Ok here is the deal. I referred by friend to purchase a Jeff Eason Ebony Sneaky. He paid $175 for it, we got it and we were HIGHLY dissapointed. My friend contacted Jeff immediatly and he advised that he would get us a refund as soon as possible. Now he is saying that he was under the influence of drugs because of his illnes when he told us that. Now he is telling us that he will only refinish the cue. Mind you this all happened on May 14 2008 so we are right at 2 Months. I feel a cue maker should stand behind his work no matter what. If his cues were worthy he would gladly take it back because he would know that he could resell the cue. Now he said he wanted pictures so here they are. I feel terrible about referring my friend to buy this cue because it looks like he is going to get screwed.

Alright here is the video of me rolling the cue on my Gold Crown.

In this picture please notice the Taper on the shaft. It looks like the ocean it is so wavy.

In this picture you can see 2 things, 1 the poor finish work and the extreme taper to get the butt matched up with the shaft.

Another picture of the extreme taper on the butt. I wish I had a Micrometer to show you just how big the butt is.

You can see the dirty material used for the "Hoppe" ring.

Last picture is his signature. Looks like it was scratched in and then ink inserted into the scratches.

Well I got a response from him and he advised that the cue did not look like that when he had it and somehow I messed it up.

BUYERS BEWARE OF JEFF EASON CUES!

omg! that must be the crappiest cue I've seen since... well, ever!
surely you must get a refund!

Yeh well it doesnt sound like its going to happen. He is making us send it back to him so he can see it before he refunds. I would be surprised if I send it and dont ever hear from him again. But maybe he will prove me wrong.

I will say it 1 more time .The cue wasnt like his pics. show when it left me.What happen after it left me I dont know but I do want to find out. I will not add to ths tread are anymore to do with it.Not worth it .
Jeff

Honestly now I know why Bob C was getting so frustrated. That cue got played with for 1 rack and that was because we were pissed about the quality of the cue. Even if that cue rolled straight it still shouldnt have left your shop. You and everyone else knows that you tapered this cue with 60 Grit sand paper. I hear now that you have the right tools and MAYBE you will turn out a half decent product but until then you NEED to take care of your customers. What you are doing is REALLY tarnishing your reputation.

Im not out to stick it to anyone. If you were sincere I may understand but you are just dodging us.

This may sound harsh, but you get what you pay for....and what was expected for $175 and a guy who's just started out trying to make cues?

That being said, if it arrived like that, he should obviously take the cue back and issue your friend a refund. Something like that should have never gone out anybody's door as sold goods....let alone drag this out over two months, since May, when you buddy immediately contacted him. Terrible.

The reason why I am trying to help is because I recommended the cue to my friend and when I saw it I felt HORRIBLE. Jeff will keep saying that it wasnt like that when it left his shop but Gods Honest truth It was!

I totally understand that you get what you pay for but this was a tad rediculous :D. If that was the case, he should have paid my friend to take it.

Don't be so quick to write off ALL new cuemakers;)

In most cases I'd agree that you get what you pay for, but I've sold cues that I've made for less than that because of cosmetic flaws. The cues were solid and hit great. I just wasn't personally satisfied with them, so I sold them cheap.

Now, on the flip side, I would NEVER try to sell a cue like the one shown here

Bill, I'm not writing off all new cuemakers. Just saying that if given the choice (same money) of a plain production Joss, Viking, etc. vs. something like this in this thread, I would choose the production cue every time. Point is this - all buyers should do their homework and know what you're going to get before you get it. There's so much information available out there nowadays...asks questions, get references, inquire with dealers and other people in the industry, players, etc.

PS - I bought some buckhorn material from Jeff and things went pretty well. Hope he decides to get this situation straightened out and learn from it.

Best of luck to you, Bill. And if you don't mind, let me offer this bit of advice. If you're not doing this as a hobbyist thing, don't let too many loose out there that you are not satisfied with or ones you "sold cheap" for one reason or another.....they'll bite you in the ass, they always do. :) Stick to your guns quality wise.

Nice table you've got there Alex. It looks like Glen did a great job.

That cue is another story.

He said he had medical conditions not just using drugs. Im not trying to stir up more trouble here.

The Cue Looks To Be Grossly Disappointing To Any Buyer.

I've Only Ever Gotten One Cue That Disappointed Me, Like This One Would Have. It Was A Fancy S&s Cue, That In The Pics Looked To Be The Nuts, But Was Far From It When I Got It In Hand. I Will Say Though, That The Cuemaker In My Case Refunded My Money Even Before He Had The Cue Back.

Good Luck With This Situation.

P.s. Jeff, If He Only Had The Cue A Few Days Before Contacting You The First Time, Why Didn't You Just Do The Refund Right Away?

He advised my friend that he was tight on cash and my friend was very understanding of that. Initially Jeff had told my friend that it would be a month before he would have the funds. Now he said Bob C was cursing him out and that changed his mind about refunding us the money.

Jeff,

Im not trying to take stabs or anything, all I am doing is stating the facts. Im sure you are a great person just having hard times. I understand that but at least let me or my buddy know that. He is WAY more than understanding about situations like this. Lets work it out.

If you call this cussing. When Jeff tried to turn the real story around when i was trying to come to an understanding with him, i replied bull s--t to his lies and he hung up the phone. That is what he is full of. Bob C.
