I no longer own the cue, so I thought it would be best if I delete my original post. It was really nice having it for a short time though.

Nice cue.

Thanks for showing off!

Thanks. I am just really happy I was able to get it. I feel that it is a very high quality cue. Very even points all the way around. The craftsmanship seems pretty flawless to me. The 3/8x10 pin joint is unique I think, because the threading is so tight. I tried screwing a regular 3/8x10 Klapp shaft on the butt (just to see if it would fit), and it got really super tight about 1/4 of the way from the bottom of the joint pin, and I was afraid to go any further. I think that the threading that OLNEY uses is unique for that reason. The OLNEY shafts are also pretty tight when screwed on to the cue. Very solid cue.

These are really great cues. You should hang on to this one. I think you will be sorry if you let it go. Congrats!!!!

I agree.

This is a keeper/player.

Time to begin forming a long term relationship with this one.

If you think of selling, think long and hard. I know you have been going through a lot of turmoil looking for a player.

Yeah, I am really happy with the cue. I hope I am able to hold on to it. I do not know how southwest cues hit, but this just might be the closest that I will ever come to having a similar hitting cue (similar to the feel and hit of southwest cues). I do not know, but it is a super nice hitting cue to me. For those that really want a southwest, but do not have the $3500 or whatever to spend on one (on the 2nd hand market), then an OLNEY just may be the next best thing. It really is a great players cue.

How can you compare the olney you have with a southwest, when you've never hit a southwest? I've played with both, and wouldn't say they compare to each other at all, but hit is a pretty subjective thing.

Justin ,olneys are really good players cues .love the burl buttsleeve and contrasting woods in the points. You have the same disease most of us here have(always wanting to try a different custom cue and i get the feeling you have probably trade and sold and bought enough customs that you have probably traded away one or two cues in your life that you wish you had kept) if this is accurate,do yourself a favor and instead of trading away a real cue like this to try something else, hold on to this as jeffs cues are real players. If you have to try something else down the line, save your money a little longer and buy another cue but don,t trade this one as i think you are gonna find it real hard to find a better player, especially in the 1200 or less category. Nice cue bud.

I am very sorry. I did not mean to compare the hit of the 2 cues, and like I said, I have never played with a southwest, but I do know that most players can't afford a southwest. Olney makes a very beautiful southwest style cue, and the one that I have hits very nice. I am very sorry. I should have never said what I said. I am pretty sure that I have read comparisons though , and olney cues are actually affordable for most players out there.

Yeah, I love trying out new cues. I know that I will sadly never be able to try out a lot of cues out there that I would love to try out (like a south west, or a blue grass cue to name a few examples). Or, a LAMBROS . Many others too , that will probably never be in my price range. This olney is probably the finest cue that I have ever had. I have read such great things about them, and I am happy that that are affordable for a poor player like me. I feel very lucky that I obtained this one though.

Exactly , guys delutiona to say smth like thatl when he have never even tried a southwest cue.

And.. Olney cues do not hit similar to southwest cue, it does hits stiff n nice but no not similar.

I am sorry. I thought I read somewhere on here that they were similar. Maybe just similar in looks. My mistake. I am curious though (for those that have played with a Southwest, for a good amount of time), are there any other cue makers that make a similar hitting cue (similar to Southwest)? Richard Harris (Bluegrass cues) maybe, or any others?

Just curious, but I wonder how big of a fan base Olney has (compared to some of these other cue makers, like Blue Grass for example)?

Are Olney cues not right up their with the quality of any of the elite cue makers out there? I was under the impression that Jeff Olney was one of the elite cue makers in the US.

Please be honest. Does Jeff Olney not have that big of a fan base (compared to many of the other elite cue makers)?

How popular are his cues?

Thanks.
