Jennifer Chen Sentenced

That's a very odd sentence:

"Chen has to submit a letter of repentance and write articles concerning the legal implications of gambling in the sports chat rooms on the PChome Web site and the pro baseball site to help propagate anti-gambling views among the public.

She has to write two pieces no less than 100 Chinese characters each for the two sites from Monday through Friday for a period of two months.

No duplications of the articles are allowed, according to the deal.

She is expected to write 160 pieces totaling at least 16,000 characters."

Does a chinese character equal 1 word or do they represent many words? I'm not up on writing in kanji ;) .

What law did she break, I know $300,000 is alot of money to be involved with, is gambling illegal in Taiwan?

Those are really weird punishments.
And very funny too!:D
It takes about 2-3 characters to translate an English word.
So 100 Chinese characters will be approx 30-50 English words.
