You seem to keep missing the point. My wife doesn't play pool. I've watched many games with JB on youtube, and I don't think she is very good. She consistently misses wide open shots, many times she plays a safe only to leave her opponents an easy shot. I'm not saying you or other people don't believe she's good, to each their own, but there are many women players including locals that are better in my opinion

Then those women ought to shoot in more tournaments so they can bust in the Top 5 US women’s list for Fargo Rate.

But if we judge by Top World Females, she is merely within the top 50. I’d be proud of that if I was her.

I think the thing that bugs people is that women’s pool isn’t quite the same level as mens. A 650 Fargo Rating is more like a shortstop and it seems to bother people that in the women’s circuit that’s professional level.

I white knight a little because if we harp on that fact, I think we are reinforcing a culture that turns off women from taking an interest in pool. I’d rather be appreciative of the few that are pursuing it rather than shine a spotlight on their shortcomings.

It’s worth understanding the Fargo Rating system better. It’s very accurate. It is simple too. Beat someone and you go up and they go down. If you really outrank them, you go up only a little for a win but go down a lot for a loss.

You’re kinda making my point with your last comment. A 650 Fargo is a top US woman, top 50 world woman, and local shortstop for men. Jennifer is (and does) good enough to hang with women’s professionals but she’s definitely a low tier professional for women and wouldn’t be able to tour with the men.

But keep in mind she is playing Jasmin, who is a 724. That’s way above the top US women. That’s top 20 women’s world, top 100 US men’s, or basically amateur state champion level for men. But that wouldn’t make the list for top 100 world men.

So yes, Jennifer isn’t expected to beat someone like Karen Corr, Allison Fisher or the top Chinese women. She’s more Jeanette Lee’s speed.

You missed the point where I think it's ridiculous how you think she plays about as good as your wife.

Jenn is not but the best but she sure don't play that bad that would draw comparison to your wife. Just going by your word so please don't take it as me taking a jab at your wife.

I was not trying to bash JB at all, I was just surprised by some of the open table misses, and safety plays I saw while watching many of her matches. I'm sure she's a great player and has good and bad days like the rest of us. The one thing I did notice while watching her is that she seems to be practicing while she's playing a match, You can almost her her saying to herself, pre-shot routine, pause, finish...etc, and I think that is getting in her way. Like the old saying goes 'don't practice while you play'. I mean she is rock solid on fundamentals, better than most anyone I've seen, but she needs to have confidence in that and focus only on the contact point and delivery speed, let go of the 'fundamental' voices while you're playing and KNOW that you are SET and you don't need to think about it anymore. Thousands of practice hours have burned that into your muscle memory!! Now,,, put the ball in the f'n hole!

Haha, having an average shot time of 30 - 40 seconds is NOT normal, not every rack has problems that you need to study for minutes.

That’s the thing that’s weird about this thread. She really doesn’t. If she played at a Matchroom Sports event with a 30 second clock, she would struggle. But I watched the time on the videos linked in this thread. She is very consistently 30-40 seconds between every shot. There is nothing wrong with that pace. The only valid thing I see people irked about is how she spends ~10 of those seconds down on the shot and appears hesitant to pull the trigger. It’s not until someone starts taking 60 seconds between shots that they should be on a shot clock.

I agree. She is NOT walking about looking at the shot over and over, hoping for the balls to mysteriously move so she will have an easier shot. She takes her time when she goes down on the shot and that's NOT a bad thing, its' her thing, it's Allison Fisher's thing, it's quite a few folks things.

I would not be bothered at playing against JB, not in the least. She's a very good player, and takes her time when she is on the shot. Good for her. We're not playing basketball, this is not a game played at lightning speed like other sports.

I'm not trying to bash anyone but you really can't call her a professional unless the term just means getting paid for playing in a tournament, which most of us have.
