If you pool cue buyers out there have not dealt with JR, you are missing a great experience. Jerry is a patient guy and listens to what you want. He doesn't try to sell you what he has and makes every effort to assure your custom cue buying experience is a good one. I highly recommend JR to those who have not had the pleasure of dealing with him.

ditto... 30 cues later he still treats me like a new customer. even thought he KNOWS i will always come back:D

Jerry is also very interesting to talk to, he seems to be able to do just about anything. I can't imagine how much time you spent talking with him, 30-cues later.

i recently got a -R cue and i like the way it looks and plays, but was less than pleased with the fit and finish.the finish is peeling off the joint collars and the cue is supposedly 1-2 months old.also the ss haljoint itself is .840 and 1 inch below it is .880 and then on the shaft above the collar it is .850.are his cues all made like that?i thought it was weird and feels weird to run your hand across the joint area.also the Delrin buttcap is 1.24 and just above in the wood where they meet it is 1.26.also a very noticeable difference when running your hand across it.again i like the looks of the cue and the way it plays, but i was surpised that he would let that type of work out of the shop.i want to stess that there is nothing really technically wrong with the cue other than the oddball measurements.the lip at the butt cap and the up,down and up measurements at the joint area.the finish peeling is coming from a nick from the previous owner, but it seems like a soft finish.

The question to your answer for me unfortunately is yes. His workmanship is kind of sloppy at times. Perhaps that is what separates the good from the great. Attention to the finer details.

But he does do good work and will be willing to rectify any problems on the cue he built if you contact him about the problem. At least that was my experience. Not sure about 2nd or third hand cues. Quite a hassle considering it could be avoided if some time was taken to inspect it before it leaves the workshop.

I would give Jerry R. a call, sounds like someone has done something to the cue. It's not my experience to have problems with fit and finish. If anything, his quality and workmanship is far superior to most. Maybe someone else has repaired a damaged area and then tried to pass off the cue. Believe me when I say HIS WORK IS FIRST CLASS. PLEASE call him and ask to have him inspect the cue before accusing him of shoddy workmanship. I know he will be more than fair if it needs any repairs.

in 30 cues ive never had a prob with jerrys finish. he uses an automotive clear like everyone else. he never feathers the transition from delrin to finish. always a small lip as most cues have. searing is the best at that IMO. ive felt tads worse that that!
overall i am very please. ive never recieved a bad cue from him.

Tried to emailed him but nor replied yet

Please contact -R-

I was in touch with Jerry this morning, he asked for me to let you know that he would be happy to go over the cue if you send it back to him. He can be reached at 814-723-8322 or email to rauenzahncue@atlanticbb.net

;)

He is quite busy, but has always gotten back to me. Through email though, it may take a few days depending on his work load. He is pretty easy to get ahold of by phone though. I've already talked to him twice this morning and I just got off the phone with him on my cue and he is something else! I've worked with great cuemakers before, but he is definitely great to work with!

Fit

Jerry used to do the finish thicker at the butt sleeve.HE FELT THE THICKER FINISH WAS STRONGER AND WAS HARDER TO CHIP OR CRACK. He can do the finish either way. Also you never know how that cue was ordered . Jerry will built cues to many different requests and tappers as he asked to do.
Nick :)

Fit and finish is key (IMO) to the end resulting masterpiece. I do hope he has corrected this issue.

I OWNED THIS CUE. THE FIT AND FINISH IN MY MIND WAS FINE. I LIKE THE HARD CUT LINE IN THE FINISH ABOVE THE DELRIN. THAT MAKES IT MORE STABLE OVER TIME. I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT WAS BEING A DRAWBACK......

AS FAR AS THE TAPER IN THE CENTER OF THE CUE.... YOU SAID IN YOUR POST YOU LIKE THE WAY THE CUE PLAYS, DON'T YOU THINK THAT TAPER IN THE CENTER HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT? NICE STIIFF STEEL JOINTED HIT, WITH THE FEEDBACK/FEEL OF A BIG PIN. THERE ARE REASONS FOR THE TAPER IN THE CENTER OF THIS CUE.

AS FAR AS THE CHIP AT THE JOINT, I MAY HAVE DONE IT WHILE PACKING THE CUE, BECAUSE I WENT OVER IT, AND DON'T REMEMBER IT HAVING ANY FINISH ISSUES AT ALL. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE CUE, WE CAN GLADLY TRADE BACK. THE FIT AND FINISH OF THE -R- IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER CUE INVLOVED IN THE TRADE. LET ME KNOW.

the other cue in the deal was unfinished.it is a french polish.i never complained about the deal,i just commented on some strange measurements i got when i micked the cue and the finish chip.i micked it b/c i could feel waves or ripples in the wood especially around the joint area.if you are telling me that is how Jerry does them to make thm hit like that,it is good enough for me.i was partially wondering if it was a desing feature.i was just surprised to see a cue go from .88o to .840 and back uo to .850 after the joint.i have never seen it done like that before.again i have no problem with our deal,i was just trying to see if he makes them like that or if it was an error.thanks to all who replied.
