Hey Ya'll, Has anyone ever heard of Jim Turner of Jim Turner custom cues? I have a cue that is signed by him that I played a guy for a few years back but never thought of trying to look him up. Anyone heard of him?
Yeah, I believe he lives in Streetsboro, Ohio. A small suburb outside of Cleveland. To the east. (Or, he did in 1995 when I met him)
I believe he worked for General Motors and worked on cues on the side. Never shot with one of his cues, but, had met several people that purchased them when he was first starting out.
He had some problems with imperfections in some of the earlier cues. I remember him showing me a stack of TESTS that he had trashed in the corner. He also mentioned that it is a tough trade, no one will show you the "tricks" of cue making.
He was trying to do his best at whatever he was working on. I have one of the first jump cues he made as a proto-type and a set of cue/butt joint protectors he made for me out of an eight ball.
If you have a picture of the cue, post it. I would like to see it.
It's 2023 a long ways from 1995 when anyone last heard from Jim turner. But alas, I am still trying to locate him. If anyone knows anything about him I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. Thanks
