Donald,

I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy's nephew (although I can't remember his name) at Jimmy's memorial service when his ashes were laid to rest.

He is just about the spitting image of Jimmy, isn' he?

Barbara, please call me Don. His nephew who lives in Leesburg, VA. is Brian. Pool Hall is called Shooters. I am going to see him today and ask about the posters. If he says yes, I will have some made up. All I will ask is cost and shipping if you would like one. He probably has tons of stuff.

Don...I collect action photos of players. See if you can get an 8x10 of Caras at the table in the shooting position with his cue and either just the CB or additional balls. Thanks.........

Mr. Purdy,

I would love to buy good quality prints of the photos shown. Please let me know the cost.

thanks,

Jim

Hi Barbara,

I recall you always mentioned wonderful things about Jimmy - you were correct, he was a great guy. He was so funny and sharp, even at his age. I have attached a pic of Jimmy you might remember from Jeremy's website. He's holding his walking stick with the 8 ball on it that Harley made for him.

Among the most famous feats in pool history is Sigel's 150 and out against Zuglan in the 1992 US Open 14.1 Championships at the Roosevelt Hoel in New York City. What many forget is that Mosconi and Caras were in the crowd sitting together that night. I recall chatting very briefly with them.

Little did I know at the time that Willie Mosconi would die before the 1993 US Open 14.1 championships and that I'd missed my only chance to photograph them together.

The only autograph I've ever asked a pool player for was at the BCA show in KC a few years back. Later that day, I had the opportunity to mention this to Ewa. She thought I had asked her for a picture, and started a gushing "why, thank you" when I interrupted her and told her I had asked for Jimmy's autograph. I repeated excitedly, "I got Jimmy's autograph!" She laughed her beautiful laugh and said, "Me Too!"

I have my personalized autographed picture of Mr. Caras hanging on the wall in my pool room!

Don,

When I visited Jimmy down in FL a couple years ago he gave me a couple of huge prints that he had. One of which was a pic of him and Chick Seabeck in the 1930s and Jimmy was a young 20-something. It is also a rare pic of Seabeck.

My hubby just bought himself a new scanner and I'll see if he can't scan the thing so I can post it up.
