Has anyone used his tapes? If so was there anything in particular that helped your game?

Does his "No Time for Negatives" tape help with all the stuff he claims?

Does anyone belong to His Membership Club? Is it worth the monthjly fee?

Thanks

I only met Jimmy Reid about 4 years or so ago, but over the passage of time, I have gotten to know him. He was quite a character in his younger years, known as "Hippy Jimmy," with his long hair below the shoulders, trademark Fu Manchu mustache, and bell bottoms jeans. When Keith was a teenager, Jimmy was very instrumental in helping him to develop his game. One of the greatest championship titles in the United States is the U.S. Open, and Jimmy Reid won it in 1985.

His Free Pool Lessons website is very detailed and excellent (IMO), and players from all over the world have bought his instructional videos. Even today, when Jimmy Reid speaks, Keith listens. He has a great deal of respect for Jimmy as a player. Jimmy also is a contributing writer for InsidePOOL magazine, and his instructional articles are easy to understand and well written.

One of the nicest players you'd ever want to meet, Jimmy Reid is always upbeat and has the uncanny ability to remain positive and focused. He is a pool guru.

Picture of Jimmy Reid and JAM taken last year at the Super Billiards Expo. Notice that Jimmy Reid is wearing the U.S. Open green blazer, only given to those who win this prestigious title.

Point 1: I have bought and watched his tapes. They're good if you're a beginner to intermediate player IMO. They're basically fundamentals and shouldn't be expected to greatly change your game. For me it was good review of the proper fundamentals and exposed me to a few drills I hadn't pereviously known. I thought they were worth the money.

Point 2: I've never seen an instructional tape yet that's lived up to it's advertising.

Point 3: Never joined his club and can't imagine what he can give you to make it worth 4 bucks a month, but then I'm notoriously cheap.

I visited Jimmy's house last year when I was in TN visiting my father, and took some lessons. My dad knows Jimmy and set them up for me. I went in not sure what to expect, but I knew of Jimmy's reputation. All I can say is Jimmy is a super nice guy, positive attitude, and incredibly vast knowledge on all aspects of pool. We worked on tons of different things and I left his home pool room a different player. Jimmy has a solid wealth of knowledge on any aspect of pool you are working on, whether it be the 9 ball break shot, or matching up in one-pocket.

Not only is Jimmy a US Open Champion, he's also a World 8 Ball Champion and has a few other titles I can't recall off hand. He has an odd playing style "BUT" the naturally talented players are usually like that, i.e. McCready, Reyes, etc.

If you're looking for solid information that will improve your game, I'd check his DVDS out for sure.

Hey Matt_24, Can you tell me how much it cost for Jimmy's lessons?? PM me if you have to.
Thanks,
Dan
