A Great Guy...
I'll put my little piece of information out there as well. I don't think any player in the age range of Nick, Jimmy, Ronnie, Keith, etc., has been an angle throughout their pool playing career. It's easy to mess someone's reputation up over one single event, or rumor. Maybe people forget what kind of life you had to lead to play pool and get your nut back in the old days. Sometimes they had to do things that weren't so great to keep eating- otherwise, they would have jobs, and you wouldn't look up their great feats as a player anyhow. As much as people would like to believe that a 'pro' player should carry themselves, or act in this or that way, it's just not like that. Maybe now, or in the near future they will be able to represent themselves that way. Back to what I was saying... A lot of the old school players robbed, dumped, double dumped, steered their partners real bad. It still happens today. This is not a kick to any of them, and I don't mean it to be JAM when I bring up Keith's name either. But those players of long ago (in my opinion) are conducting themselves in the most professional manner that they have ever been. These players have also been dead broke so many times, having to be helped by joe blow, that they seem to dole out pool information more readily now. I have heard some funny stories from Jimmy- ones that anyone of you would have ran out and bought the book if it were in print, yet decide what kind of person he was by it. Jimmy is a one of a kind guy- very very intelligent, and has tons of charisma. If anyone didn't like him, I would bet it would be his opponent, because he was known to gloat and have a good time when playing. I'm sure there are a couple people out there that don't like me too much, but when I'm playing, and there is a disagreement, I'm sure as hell going to stick up for myself as well. As for Jimmy's site- I think there were a lot of situations that were out of his control, that he has made right with everyone, or at least attempted to. He is a plethora of knowledge, and someone that anyone can learn from. JMHO
