Joe Rogan And Pool ???

I’ve played pool with Joe both at his office/studio and at his home in Austin, TX.
He’s a good player with very good mechanics, a solid foundation, a good stroke, and knowledgeable about the shots and positioning.
He seems to care a lot about the game, especially when one considers his set-up at both locations. One can tell that a lot of thought and preparation went into both.
He has a variety of some nice custom cues.
In my opinion only, finding time to attend a tournament or provide commentary might be the bigger issue.
As an aside, accommodating his security team might make the difference when deciding on an event to attend. In other words, I think it would be easier for him to attend a bigger event like the new location of the U.S. Open in Frisco, TX, versus the Texas Open in Round Rock in a small poolroom. With that being said, we did have dinner at a local restaurant, and only one person in the restaurant acted like they recognized him and approached the table.
He has shown up at the Texas Open on several different occasions. I would be surprised if he didnt make the trip to the US Open honestly.

Interesting, I must have missed that. To clarify, I'm not making a negative statement. I was there a lot and did not see him. Allegedly, I like to drink and that may have impaired my vision. Allegedly. I may or may not be very loud on the last 9 ball livestream.

I stand by what I said before. Whatever, whenever and however Rogan wants to be involved with pool will be an absolute positive on pool.

Rogan for color commentary at the Mosconi Cup would be great. I think he would thrive in a loud event like that to be more expressive and hyped up.

I wish they had more crowd-involved events like it throughout the year. Whenever i’m channel surfing and come across a darts match and see the huge crowds going nuts, then switch over to a sparse 20 seat lifeless audience Predator event it really is sad.

To the OP’s post I wholeheartedly disagree and believe we need to stop trying to be like snooker or golf and lean into our heritage. Pool is a melting pot of all backgrounds and I believe the more you try to polish it you take away it’s soul.

If Rogan wants to help out the pool scene, maybe he can reach into his deep pockets and finance a decent paying tournament. I have absolutely no interest in hearing that human cue ball commentate a match he barely understands, and even less in watching him attempt to play.

I’m sure Rogans been around enough pool halls and tournaments to know just how cheap and unreciprocating pool players are. He’s not interested in giving away money to pool players just for the sake of it. I’m sure if he had an opportunity presented to him to help move the needle for pool in a meaningful way he would do it.
