several months ago i saw a guy post information about burton spain's old partner john davis making blanks and cues again,so i contacted him.i bought a blank from him.full splice tulipwood into ebony with four veneers for $400.alex brick lives near me so i had him finish it,and it came out perfect.one of if not the best hitting/playing cues i have ever owned and i have owned hundreds.i am a cue whore.anyway $400 fo a full splice blank of this caliber is a steal, and i just wanted to give john a plug here.the appearance is almost as perfect as a hercek, and way better than any other full splice available.hit is better than both herceks i have had.

Yep....Mr. Davis is a pretty awesome guy to deal with. My cue should be done by the middle of February....and I'm counting down the days!!! :)

I'm shocked that his return to cuemaking didn't cause more of an uproar....what with his extensive history and such.

....or maybe it did, and folks are just keeping quiet until they get theirs.

John Davis blanks

I also purchased a blank from John, What a great guy to deal with. I had it finished by a cuemaker in the top ten. He said the blank was fantastic and when I received it the hit was just great. I would recommend Johns blanks and dealing with him to anyone.

I have been corresponding with him also about getting a blank and having Sailor make me a cue. I better pull the trigger.

Is Sailor still making cues? That cue should rock.

Hello -

How can I get in touch with John Davis?

Thanks
The third post in this thread has a link to Tate's webpage on Mr. Davis. At the bottom are his phone number and e-mail address. Either one will work to get in touch with him.

You won't be sorry you did, either!! :) :)

Davis Blank

Here is one of johns blanks, didn't do anything with this one. I should order another for future use!

i am definitley getting one more to have for later.i have to disagree 100% with people who claim the shaft is the only part of the cue that matters,or if you have a great shaft the butt doesn't matter.these blanks are solid as a rock.

Claims he's working more lately. He's finishing up a Hoppe conversion for me now.
Didn't like the blanks he got for the shafts and sent them back, but thinks he'll get new blanks and get it done within the next few weeks.

My Davis blank

This is my Davis blank finished. Not the greatest pictures, but the cue is great.

Did Davis do the inlay or did your cue maker?

Who was your cue maker?

What did he charge?

Hi dmgwalsh, I don't know if Mr. Davis does inlays. The cuemaker who finished it did the inlays. The cuemaker is in the top ten and being there the cost of completing the cue was considerable, but to me well worth it.

No inlays

As information John Davis is not making blanks with inlays AT this time.

Come on Wizardnblue, Tell us who finished the cue... Is that a brown bumper? if so, nice touch. Anyways, looks like a great cue.

Thanks for sharing!

I emailed John like last year, but he didn't get back to me at all, and it's been like 6 to 7 months or maybe even more...
