John S out but what a ride

Sad to see he's out. I'm not one of the "10" but I was really hoping he'd do the business just to see all those guys reactions! Plus John is an AZBer, gotta cheer for a fellow forum member.

He didn't win but should have made some money as well as he finished, or does this tournament pay that bad. Leonard

Thanks for the effort John, I was watching those brackets, wishing I was there. I had a lot of fun watching your progress, and I'd also do it again....

Good Job John!

I did not contribute to John's entry but I have enjoyed the teamwork that the AZB family put toward his effort. Thanks John and the whole AZ community for the camaraderie exhibited here.

Great time had by all for sure.

Now the real question...Did he have any luck getting a sponsor?

Exactly. I hope that word of "the fans" backing John will really open their eyes to the potential John has as a sponsor.

It is blatantly apparent that John Schmidt has all of the characteristics a sponsor should be looking for in a player. I hope that the sponsor that chooses him will treat him with the same respect that John will show to that sponsor.

Does anyone have one of those typing courses to send to John Schmidt? He needs to learn how to type. John unfortunately cannot type worth a darn and that is the only reason his posts are sparse.

I spoke with John at the Insidepool Party on Friday night. I have never ever spoken to John a day in my life till this party (KUDOS TO INSIDEPOOL). John has to be one of the classiest and most down to earth people in the billiard industry, some of my friends that where with me thought he was a great person. We spoke a little about the 10 guys on here who helped him and he was flattered at the way the AZ Family supported him in this tournament. I have to say that John has deffinately gained a new fan in myself!!!

Likewise, a real nice guy... I spoke to him just for a couple moments but he verty cordial. He was all over that expo this weekend so if he dosn't get some sponsership from Valley Forge I would say it certainly wasn't for the lack of trying. Due to an early exit from the open barbox tournament I was able to check out the pro-arena some and was VERY impressed with his game and attitude.

John Schmidt has been just the way you described him ever since the first time I met him and that was SEVERAL YEARS ago. I've never seen John be unkind or abrupt with any fan EVER, even ones that don't know who he is. :-) He always has a kind word to say and willing to talk shop with his competitors or fans. You described him well and I just wanted everyone on AZ to know that this a new personality that John has adopted; he has always been this way. Many professional pool players have adopted a rather snotty attitude toward their prospective fans and even their fellow competitors, not so with John.

If more pro pool players carried themselves like John, perhaps corporate America might get behind pool a little more. At the very least, a better attitude from the pros would make amateurs more likely to invest in the tournaments more often.

Here's my offer to you and I've never asked John if it was OK to speak on his behalf nor has John ever asked me to speak for him but the next time you see John and you want to know ANYTHING about pool, choose one question carefully and ask him. You will get an intelligent and kind response of that I'm sure.

Hahaha! Good one!!

(I had to learn for work)

I was at the match Saturday for both the 11:30 and 3:30 sessions when he got "bumped out" Rodney Morris.

Good looking young guy, dresses well, and seemed to have a pleasant demeanor, even from sitting in the bleachers a few feet away where he was sitting.

That's right! I forgot he was getting backing from AZers. Man, I must be worn out from yesterday's action!

I'm sure you'll read it in the other thread aswell, but John decided to give his AZ backers $1000 of his prize money, so none of them will be out any money. Class personified. Way to go John!
