I have never really been a fan of John. Not because he wasn't a nice guy or a super good player. Just because I didn't know him. I apologize. John is a very humble man, someone who I would like to emulate!. His commentating is not only insightful but comical at the same time. So john I owe you an apology..... Sorry for being human. I hope you continue to get better as a pool player and continue to entertain us as a commentator. TY

Dude is hilarious. Love his commentary. "I hit so many balls into the rail in this tournament the table is going to file assault charges. "- John Schmidt

John is a very good commentator. While filming Bonus Ball I would hear his commentary in my headset, always interesting.

"He's going to fire at this bank so hard, the whole table is going to move an inch." :)

Great commentator, one of the best I've ever heard.

Yeah, it was in a Danny Harriman thread entitled John Shmidt's Got Action.
Post 152, 11-25-2008, a real classic.

your right im heartless but im not brainless which for the millionth time is why i would rather be ate by a goat and shit off a cliff than put 2 dollars in his pocket. you know if i was lucky enough to have you as a motivational coach i might have become a good player.

Always been a fan of John- for those reasons. He's a nice guy and a super good player. He came through a number of years ago, before the U.S. Open, and the Derby City wins, and all the rest of it. Always respectful, always honest about his game, and always beat the hell out of all of us haha. This was before anyone knew who he was, and he was real, even then. Couldn't be more happy to see him on the Mosconi Cup roster.

Justin asked if he was ever the best straight pool player and after raving about the Europeans..."Maybe I was the best American straight pool player but that's like saying I was the best downhill skier in Hawaii."

Yeah, I really enjoyed Mr. 403's commentary. Good sense of humor along with experience in the game.

Hope to hear him more often.

Thanks John and TAR.

I could see John on a stage shooting balls in on a bar table doing a comedy routine. He is a very funny and humble man. Anyone that can make fun of themselves are usually real people. I wish John would think about doing some stand up comedy...I believe he would be good at it and finally make some big bucks. I grew up with John Byner in Rockville Center, Long Island. To me he was not that funny but made a ton of money after a gig on the tonight Show. Johnnyt

I really enjoyed his commentary as well. He was great yesterday. He definitely made the game funner. I would watch any match that he is commenting on . Hope he's in the booth today also !
