John Schmidt's and Corey Deuel's comments on aiming systems

As I have said many many times now, I wish everyone that already has & everyone that will in the future invest themselves into CTE complete success with its implementation & benefit that it might bring to their games.

Oh yeah he was on me for awhile, sent me tons of pms, each one opening up another can of worms to try and work through and I finally said....hey we disagree....go play with some one else.

We were a bit friendly a awhile back.

We recently had a few of PMs (not a ton) before I purchased your book that were all good conversations & discussions. Then we had a couple or 3 after I purchased your book & because I was not in total agreement with some of what is in your book you took offense.

I have stayed away from your posts & will continue to do so but you should not refer to me if you if you do not want a response. There are things that I could say regarding you too.

Have a Great Day, Robin.

The Dungeon. LOL

Robin,
MOST sub-forums are where they are because a small minority wanted to remove them from the Main Forum where the posts of that particular subject would not be reviewed and talked about, all the while pretending their experience of viewing the Main Forum was compromised by having to read that particular subject in the Main Forum.

A "vocal", small bunch of whiny-babies wailed like banshees until the management knuckled under to their demands and up sprouted the sub-forums.

Some of the detractors of the particular subjects couldn't overlook the subject material in the Main Forum, (like I do virtually everyday without a thought of complaining that a subject which I'm not interested be relegated to a sub-forum) and demanded that sub-forums be created for subjects which they didn't enjoy reading about. Even then, those same detractors followed along to the sub-forums only to instigate and chase good and decent people from the forum.

The Main Forum used to be a very interesting place where you could scan the first few pages in a matter of seconds, finding out which threads were popular and getting the most press, where you could then decide if you wanted to participate. Now that there are sub-forums ad nauseam, many interesting subjects are overlooked and posts and traffic is down.

Now, more and more people seek their pool media fix in other forums or simply avoid talking about pool. In this forum, there are people who claim that they love pool, but constantly seek out individuals who don't think like they do and try to castigate them at every turn. It gets worse, even after the hounded parties leave the forum, some posters continue to bring up old stories about the parted poster(s), just for shits and giggles.

Yea, ok...............this is the result..............

Its been awhile since the aiming forum has been relegated to the dungeon, so someone remind me why exactly we are here?

Yeah ok..faintly remember

JoeyA,
Yeah I faintly remember some of those guys. Its hard to believe that was all it took to get it moved but it is what it is.Regardless of ones position on the aiming thing, I always thought that having interesting subject matter up front was a good thing. People love a little drama, oh well.....Thanks for reeducation.

Robin

Patrick,
I was just trying to explain to Robin why the sub-forums are where they are but I guess it took more explanation than I thought it would.

If you feel like apologizing, please go ahead. If it is sincere, all will be right in the world. Maybe the rest of the people who think like you do about what has happened to this forum and the sub-forums will follow suit with similar apologies. Yea.....OK...;-)

P.S. It's a good thing, we all love pool. :indecisive:

Leave the above as your final words on CTE and find a new issue in your life to pursue. Enough is ENOUGH!

Dave,

How about you quote me in full context?

As I have said many many times now, I wish everyone that already has & everyone that will in the future invest themselves into CTE complete success with its implementation & benefit that it might bring to their games.

I just think the description of it is inaccurate & can be & at times has been misleading.

To me, it would be better described as an objective approach to utilizing ones subjective perceptions & intuitions or some shorter version that would mean the same thing.

Best 2 All,
Rick

My only issue is the inaccurate description that can inappropriately draw people to it.

Why is it that proponents like yourself so vehemently defend that description to the point of attacking individuals that have come to a different conclusion? When is that going to end?

I think as long as that description is associated with it there will be someone like Patrick, 8pack/Anthony, etc, or myself that will have issues with that.

I have so many posts because of the responses to so many posts like yours to me from the group of die-hard staunch proponents of that description. Some proponents of CTE don't seem to care one way or another. All they care about is that it has helped them. Good for them.

Again, I wish everyone success with their endeavors with CTE.

I also wish I or someone could help those like Tom Awshworth that are still waiting for more than 6 months to get some objective instructions on how to objectively get the line for the shot at hand. I know that that will not be forthcoming & I think he is starting to understand that too.

Best 2 You, Dave & All,
Rick

PS If you would note all was rather quiet on this subject until the thread with Stan's video regarding objectivity & subjectively was started. If it's going to be brought up then those that disagree will again voice their disagreement. Is that not part of what a discussion forum is about, discussing disagreements, civilly. What is the title of this sub forum? Some seem to think that it is only for the purpose of positive considerations to CTE. If so, then it's a bad title. I think a sub forum for positive considerations only for CTE would be a good idea.

PPS All that said, I will try to refrain from wearing on the delicate sensibilities of the few staunch CTE proponents. The odd thing is, I could almost consider myself a proponent if not for the inappropriate description. If it helps someone to play better then I am all for it, for them.

When you develop your own aiming system then you can describe it as you please. Until then, you don't know what you don't know

Lou, I like you, but that is pure crap. If anything, it is the other way around. Those against it keep on making up stuff, and then mocking users of CTE for saying it. It's ridiculous the lengths that those against it for whatever reason go to. Learn from the system, or move on to something else. Because it has been proven over and over by many that the system works as described.

Neil, some of the stuff posted here recently by the CTE faction has been way over the line. In particular, Stan got away with murder for a while and should have, by all rights, been given a vacation. The udder side has been relatively calm by comparison.

Whether the system "works" is a separate issue.

I hear ya sure enough.

As for aiming methods the way it was described to me its a one size does not fit all kind of thing. While I can agree with that to an extent there is a lot in that argument that I cant agree with. I dont think any kind of complication helps much of anything. Every time I get distracted I do something stupid on the table. I like my aiming simple and full of feel, perhaps some directed feel so Im a little closer to the mark to start off with.

Thats why I am an advocate of playing people. More people should play each other from here. This way we get to see who has game and who doesn't. You also get to know people. Mouth doesn't make shots go in. I wish we could arrange matches here and maybe even have a stream or You Tube them for all to see, this way if you run your mouth all of the time you might get challenged and then its put up or shut up.

It might be a might unfair as you suggest but hey..you won! That has to keep you warm at night at the very least.

You won and you have the satisfaction that you acted right and conduct yourself as a gentleman on here...even if you have to...the point is....you do.

That counts any way you slice it.

I believe that much of all this has to do with how much you invest into the game.

If you play it long and hard enough, you will get to the point where you do what you will with the balls through pure feel and instinct, naturally compensating for squirt, swerve, deflection, throw, slide, speed, elevation, and all the rest. Less time and you're looking for a crutch (that will not begin to account for all of it).

Don't mean someone won't try and sell you DVD though and tell you otherwise :-)

Lou Figueroa

JoeyA,
I respect your opinion very much and we aren't as far apart as you might think because in any argument./attack there are always two sides and I recognize the side the you are mentioning with the attacks...yeah they were and they happened no doubt.

I guess if I had been Stans coach on dealing with them I would have told Stan to just have left it alone and it would have subsided because we are all entitled to opinions.

For some reason I think there was more at stake there than really needed to be and I took some lessons from it.

There isn't one person on this forum that can save pool.

We can put ourselves out there and try really hard to turn the tide in our little spot in the game but try for all we can....we cant save pool. Pool has to save itself and it does it, one place at a time, one neighborhood at a time and one player at a time. Just like you and I are doing on our home turf.

If Stan Shuffett is guilty of anything, he is probably guilty of the same thing that many of us are, he probably wanted to help pool by helping players. Unfortunately money was involved and whenever that happens there is going to be huge issues come up because of the money...and then the philosophy of the world of billiards....playability.....ya da, yada, yada...the whole geometrically correct stuff arguments angle...whatever.

I am not going to doubt what you've said nor question it any further, I played some with Scott Lee last night and what nice guy...I told him I wished that people on here would stick together just a little bit more. We talked about Pool in general and I told him of my concerns about the game. If anyone is qualified to be concerned about the game guys like Stan and Scott are. Its where they work. Ive had to come a long way to get to where I am concerning Pool but none of us alone can save it. No matter how hard we try. No matter how vehemently we argue over points that really in the scheme of things matter little.

As long as pool is getting played...and room owners are selling pool time...wtf guys, you know?

I know what you are saying is true and I will say this much about it.

I wish Stan would come back, I wish JB would come back. I will still agree with PJ on some things as I do with Dr.Dave or whoever and be a gentlemen about it.

If any of you AZ guys find yourself near Winston Salem NC or in NC call me and lets have a brew and play pool on my nickel. I like to play, money is means little to me. The game we have together is what I enjoy.

I cant imagine that some of this bs we get involved in should dilute the quality of this forum but from time to time....I guess we all need a lesson or two.

Thanks for your reply.

Because you quoted Joey I saw what he said and I would just like to say that Stan has recently and repeatedly proven himself to be no better than his detractors.

Lou Figueroa

Joey is the biggest most self-righteous WB here.

Lou Figueroa

I just call a HATER when I see one AND you're definitely one of them on this forum. You can't help yourself.

You make out like you have me on ignore but can't wait to respond to my posts.

People leave this forum because of people like you and you publicly revel in the fact that they are gone, making ad hominem posts just hoping that they will read your dribble.

It's really sad.

JoeyA

Dave, the reason some instructors stress foot placement is so that you do get your head in the right position each time. If you address the ball the same way on all standard shots, your feet should also be in the same position each time. Once you know where that position is, you can easily use your feet to get in the correct position.

I think it is easier to feel that the feet are off place. To me, that is a good key that my head will also be off even though it may "look right" at the time. To me, the feet are just another on the check list to make sure my alignment is correct right from the get go.

On the non-standard shots, where foot placement will be different, I still always stand and get my feet right and then look at the shot. By doing that, I know my vision center is correct. Then, once I am locked in on my correct vision center, I am free to move the rest of my body any way I want to to get down on the shot as long as I stay locked in vision-wise.

Because they exist and everybody accounts for them one way or another, even you. You'll describe it differently to sell your products, but it will amount to the same thing, just less informative.

Why do you need to make every conversation a fighting match? I quite doubt that CJ "needs" to sell anything to make a decent living! If you have something constructive to say, bring it on! Don't become like the CTEnistas and jump into a conversation just to disrupt it!:frown:
