John Wright

John knew how to hold the value of a Custom Cue. He refused to deal with makes who Whore out their product. I still have many of his original pictures he would send out and the cues were mostly top notch. Many seller nowadays are just selling cheap foreign made junk, something John was against.

A friend gave me about 2 years worth of John's mailers that he used to send out. The ones with actual 4x6 photos of the cues and the price list. I will eventually scan them and post a few for people to look at. Lots of history in those mailers.

I was fortunate enough to make the trip to John's house to purchase a cue. He showed me a really nice cue by a guy I had never heard of. I really liked it but since I did not know of the guy I decided not to buy it. That cue was a Showman.

John knew cues. How many other cue dealers dealt directly with balabushka, and Szamboti. I met John while I was a teenager, had a some old cues appraised by him. He lived pretty close to me, so I always saw him in the local pool rooms. Later when I started making cues, John sold some of my first higher end cues for me and I did some repairs for him as well. There aren't too many around who knew as much about cues as john did. I still have every mailer he sent out to me. When John passed, a great deal of knowledge about cues was lost as well.
