Joint precision wrap/packing?

The following is a pitch a guy made to me about a product that can be put on cues to reduce deflection. I did not write the following paragraph so pardon the jumbled syntax.

".................Use a cotton thread 8/14 ply yarn size or any good cotton thread and wind it around your cue's flat mating surface, install the shaft. I will guagantee that the deflection will be less. All manufactures NEED better QUALITY CONTROL, joint/connector PRECISSION and as close to 100% true fit as passible. AN Efern $13 cue would be a success. A Predator, Cuetec, Dufferin, etc. is no better than the joint/connector precission. Try the experiment using the THREAD ALTERATION..............."

Can anyone tell me what this guy is talking about.

He's talking about you breaking your cue. If you wrap yarn around your joint pin so that the cue does not tighten up flush...then the flex after hitting a ball could very easily crack the shaft, especially on a non brass insert shaft. If you buy that BS then let me sell you some of my special tape that you can wrap around your wrist that totally eliminates deflection.:D

I don't know what he was talking about...but I bet I know what he was smoking. Johnnyt
