Joint Protector

Hi Folks,
I just got my first Schon Ltd Cue and loved it. I'm looking for a set of joint protector and wondering do I go with plastic or aluminum ones. Any advice?
And where will you go to buy these protectors. I found plenty on eBay but don't know the quality of it.
TIA:)

I would personally go with the original wood protectors made by Schon posted in the link above by Steve (I've had them and they are real nice). If you chose to do so the delrin ones found elsewhere such as e bay should be fine.

Talk to Jim Baxter on the forum. You will end up with a nice set of jp's that look awesome. The price isn't bad either

Jim Baxter definatly if you have the money. Otherwise the Meuller's caps are very nice indeed. I have a set I got with a Rat Cue. They are worth the money.

Jim is reasonable for what you get. I had Jim make two sets of matching protectors for both of my Schons. If you love you cue, whats a couple of extra bucks?

I would third (or is that fourth?) Jim Baxter. I'm about to have him make me a set to go with my brand new cue.

Thanks!

Thank you all the folks who had offered advices here. I liked the schon ones and also checked out Jim B's pieces. I finally decided to go with the Mueller wooden ones for now since money is a little tight. I need to save $$ for another Instroke case I've been liked all the time.

Thanks again for your help and this forum is really informative compared to some other sites I've been to. I'm glad I can be part of this forum now.

I like to use J/P's on my cues, but mainly to protect the joint pin. I'm not sure what good J/P's do for shafts other than maybe keep out some moisture if the shafts don't have a brass insert.

They protectt the edge of the shaft collar. IMO, that is the primary purpose on both ends. That edge must be sharp for good fit when screwed together.

I appreciate all the kind word from people I have built j/ps for. over 500 sets here on AZ. I have a galery below , in red letters , If I can be of service, Please Pm Me. thanks Jim

They make it easier to pull your shaft out of the case.
