Jose captain for u.s. Mosconi cup

I vote for Jose..Great choice
It's within the rules to have Jose as captain, but for me, it would be a ridiculous choice. Jose is generally referred to as "the leader of the Filippino," a walking symbol of how the Fillipinos came to Ameria and wrestled away many a trophy from their American counterparts.
Yes, it's allowed and yes, he's more than qualified, but as a symbol of another country's excellence, I really don't see how choosing him would make any sense at all.

Can't we have him as a player, instead...?? I don't think he shoots in enough qualifying events to get the points, so he'd have to be an "at large" choice...the reason I ask is because I doubt there are many players in the world less affected by noise and pressure than Jose.
Personally, I'd like to see an event where the Filipinos and the Asians (non Filipinos) entered teams. Maybe expanding the Mosconi cup or something like that
It can't be considered, in my opinion, unless Jose has done the paper work.
If he is an American citizen....he would be a great choice.
...but a green card doesn't get it.
It makes perfect sense.
You can't move to Africa and become an African.
You can't move to Japan and become Japanese.
The great thing about America is you can move here from anywhere and become an American. Unless you're 100% Native American you're an immigrant anyway.
P.S. You spelled "Filipino" wrong twice, two different ways, in the same sentence. :thumbup:

But what just kind of qualifications go into the making of a captain for the Mosconi Cup? It would be interesting to see what everybody thinks the Mosconi Cup captain should be made of. Not all great players can teach and not all great players can captain. Many times a lesser player can have what it takes to teach. And this would also pertain to being a captain. Just a thought...and this is, by no means, taking anything away or even pertaining to Jose Parica.
My admiration of Jose Parica goes way way back to when I first saw him at Hardtimes-Bellflower. (Is Fritz That's It still across the street on Artesia)

Jose is a great champion and well deserved to getting more accolades that are long past due. If he was captain that would be a very cool thing
Wrong. If you are born in a country you are a non-immigrant national of that country.
Why would Native American's be the "only" Americans compared to other families that have been in North America for hundreds of years? You do realize that the ancestors of the Native Americans in fact immigrated into North America themselves and they have the same African sourced ancestry as ALL of us. Their distant relatives got to North America before our distant relatives but none of them originate in North America, Homo Sapiens originated in Africa and we ALL emmigrated from there to populate the rest of the planet over time. That is where we ALL came from, including "Native Americans".
The idea that one relatively small group of people who represented a small fraction of the worlds population should be able to lay claim to a landmass the size of the entire of America is absurd. The whole "you stole our land" thing is truly absurd, seriously. New groups of people moved onto a hugely underpopulated continent and like every other place on this planet that land is now shared amoung the entire worlds population as we all move about and settle in different areas.
I have mad respect for Jose but he is too old. I want someone who can actually coach and not just be a figure head like Varner had always been, who says that the coach has to be old to be a good coach? I would much rather see someone like Tony Robles coach?

I think he would make a great Captain. I don't know how much influence a Captain has, I can't tell much from Varner being the Captain. Jose has a world of experience, gambling and playing tournaments, and I would to see him get a chance at being the Captain and Coach.
