WHich will make you play better? Neither, and both

I see Joseys come up for sale more often than I do Scruggs or Freys.
As far as hit, I have not a clue as I have never owned either. I think that is just way to subjective to be discussed here.
Hope this helps,
Shorty
I don't have a Josey, but I have two Bob Frey sneaky pete's and like them both.travislj said:which is better? and why?![]()

Bamacues said:I have played with a couple of Josey SPs and a ton of Frey SPs. I prefer the hit of the Frey...very crisp with great feedback. Easy to move the ball around, etc. If you have played with a Scruggs SP, then you also know how a Frey SP plays. The Joseys were not bad playing cues, just a little softer than the Frey, which is not what I like.

TATE said:I can only compare the Scruggs Pete's that Bob made versus Josey, for what it's worth.
My favorite SP's are a couple of Scruggs I have. Unlike most sneaky pete's, the points are usually really even and they play like a nice custom cue. They are well balanced with a solid hit. These are a cue a hard core player can appreciate and in my opinion they are OK for someone who normally doesn't like house cues. In your hands they do not feel like a bar cue at all.
I had a Josey SP, but it was a fancy one with a lizard wrap and inlays. It was a little fatter in the butt and a little stiffer. I liked the way it played but not as much as the TS pete's. However, it was still a fine player.
So, I like the way the Josey looks (especially the fancier ones) , but I like the way a TS plays.
By the way, I think the fancier Josey SP's are a really good deal.

Here's some pics of my former Josey SP a few years ago. Everyone loved the looks of this cue. I think Keith only charged around $600 for something like this at the time.
