I just wanted to give a mention to Josh Johnson who won this year's Windy City Open 8 Ball. He came undefeated through the winners side to knock out all players including his friend and traveling buddy, and probably the best bar box player in the world, Jesse Bowman.

We had the most press coverage for this event ever from all of the newspapers and billiard magazines. This event made front page of the local Currier News, 2 other area papers with follow up reports, InsidePool and Billiards Digest with little mention of Josh.

Here's to Josh Johnson! Congratulations from all of us here at The Windy City Open! In addition to cash prizes, Josh is going to Disney World!

"probably the best bar box player in the world Jesse Bowman" he isn't even in the top 100, cmon

I've seen him play some and although I don't feel he's #1, I'd put him in the top 100 on the bar tables. It takes someone who can play to beat him. Not just an average shortstop. Hope everything went well for you Eydie and Bob. I'm sure it was another great event. Hope to make the next one. Sam

Jesse Bowman is one of the top bar box players in the country. He disects a table & runs out with amazing ease. I can't speak for Jesse but I have seen him at many tournaments & no one seems to step to find out. I don't think many of the top 100 players that you think of would care to find out how good he plays on a bar box..........his one pocket game isn't bad either & way under rated.

He does play good, but the best, I doubt it. Close though, I don't think a handful of players could beat him on a bar box. If that! Ah hell, maybe he is the best  I saw him play at the Cue Club in Vegas last year after the B.C.A. tourney, he offered everyone in the tourney that day the 8. Hell, I couldn't beat anyone then, I couldn't make a ball but I came in 4th after losing my first match hill hill. Well, I guess I beat a few guys but I didn't play good, not as well as I could have. But I wouldn't try him with the 8, even if I was hittin em good that day cuz I was broke. But I'll play him even if he'll bowl too :D Just had to throw that in there. Peace.

Thanks Rude Dog, Congrats was what I was looking for in this thread for Josh. I didn't mean to start a discussion over Jesse, (even though I do feel he is one of the best)

Josh is one of an amazing group from Leisure Time Billiards in East Moline Il. The group includes Jesse Bowman, Jamie Bowman, James Baracks, Josh, Tony Z, Chris Cass. That's a couple world class and several national class players from one room.

Hey Jim ~ And Yes, well said, it is an amazing group. Tony Z (Zierman) is out of MN and runs several nice casino tours. He is a good player (if this is who you were referring to) but not close to the Bowman's abilities in my opinion only.

I think Chad Vilmont was originally a member of that posse too.

The best member of that posse was Jon Kucharo....hopefully he will regain his form.
....yes...I momentairily forgot Chad & Jon Kucharo, thought about them later. Quite a bunch to come from one area. Mark Wilson comes from the Quad Cities and owned a room there a few years back.

wait a minute

i think some of you may have not read the news section latley. mr. bariks is winning almost everything he enters. he is certainly at the top of any list. not just his local pool room. :D
