Ok Mike thank buddy any news on my local Fella

Craig Cochrane, his girlfriend told me that, he was 1 win away from top 16

Sorry Muxy, Craig took 17th and won $125.

Delicious and Joe Tucker are battling it out now in the finals.

Atta' boy craig local guy from Fredericton making a scence that is sweet news. :) I am so proud of him. Thanks Mike! how big was the feild

Just got back a little while ago but couldn't stay for the finals. Both Danny and Joe were hitting them great today but if I were betting I would have to go with the Kid. His semi-final match was a clinic on how to shoot pool and despite recent reports, he was shooting fast and loose. If it weren't for a valiant effort in the end by Steve Tavernier the match would have been over in about a half hour. Danny was 8-1 and Steve brought it back to 8-4 before Danny closed out the win.
Joe T is playing some great pool as well. Despite a little controversy in his match with Frankie Hernandez, Joe easily won that match 9-3.
A special shout out to local player Jason Michas whose game has really elevated in the past year. He took out Tony Robles in a great hill-hill match and made it to the quarter-finals where Joe T sent him home with a 4th place finish. I didn't see it but I gather from the above reports that Joe also beat Steve to move into the finals. An all-around great day and an all around great tournament.

I also had the opportunity to meet Jude R who is a great guy and had a very nice tournament as well. It was great to meet you Jude.

And as always Mike Webb was on hand and had a couple of absolutely gorgeous cues for sale. That Pink Ivory / Snakewood is awesome. Like I said Mike, if only the money tree never ran dry...

Thanks DDCoop, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. I had a great time in Providence and Snookers is always a treat. It kinda reminds me of Fenway Park with its small confines and oddities. Although I was a bit disappointed initially, having finished 13/16, the names that did not make it as far still astound me. It was a solid field featuring some great names and because of a fortunate draw, I was able to dance right through all the mine-fields right to the money rounds. I did play some solid players but didn't have to face anyone of national recognition until the second day (Frankie Hernandez).

Although I really was amazed by how well they were able to keep the tournament moving, it was a bit disappointing realizing they removed two tables since last year. It's a small room that's only gotten smaller and the tables removed were prime real estate. Aside from that, the owners are great, the staff is great and I have to say, it's the only staff that exhibits a singificant amount of excitment from hosting a big event. They enjoy the players and spectators and never for a moment do they ever stop smiling.

I tip my cap to Kid Delicious. He really was the best player in the field on Sunday. Tony Robles was playing jam-up on Saturday but failed to maintain that momentum (he rolled over Chris Lynch having missed only about 2 shots or so). Tony Crosby (my horse) was the victim of several 9-ball combinations in his first round match and although he made a strong showing on the B-side, he failed to make it to the second day, losing to Joe Tucker in the final match on Saturday. Joe Tucker was great though his incident on Sunday will forever scar my perception of him. It bothered me that he'd call over Mike Zuglan after play resumed. Randy is a treat to watch. The guy moves around the table so fast, I break a sweat just watching! He ended up beating both my road-partners and deserved both matches.

On a final note, I really can't wait to go next year. DDCoop, I hope I get to see you again next Winter. Although I'm asking a lot, hopefully I'll improve on this year's showing and spend a little more time playing on Sunday.

Hey Jude,

I will definitely see you next year. That is a great event even from a spectators point of view. That match between Frankie and Joe really got ugly. I wouldn't think of choosing sides because it is really none of my business but I could see both players points. I just think Frankie let the situation get the better of him and it showed in his game. He is a world class player but he let his emotion get in the way. I have no doubt we'll be seeing his name again and again though.
I hope next year is an even better year for you even though I wouldn't hang my head on your finish especially going out to Frankie. Throughout the event I just felt that Danny was on a different level which absolutely blows my mind. Everyone plays at such a high level and then to have someone playing even higher is really something. The Tony Robles / Jason Michas match was kind of bittersweet. I think the world of Tony and he has one of the nicest games to watch out of anybody but Jason is a local guy whose game has really elevated. There is no doubt who the better player is, just a couple of bad rolls and the fact that Jason is good enough to capitalize but all in all it was one of my favorite matches of the day. Take care and I'll see you next year.

Wait, I apparently missed something. What happened between Joe and Frankie? I saw the first Joe Tucker incident.

Jude M. Rosenstock

Jude,

What you were talking about was the match right after the Joe/Frankie match. The Joe/Frankie tiff was about racks, and was settled by a neutral racker.

What Jude saw was over at table 1 where (insert players name here) was trying to masse around a blocking ball to make a hit on the ob. (insert players name here) mounted the table, with his back to Joe to make the hit.
Made the ob (good shot) but slipped after shooting which must have looked funny to Joe. The bottom line is the hit was good. You should always have a TD come over to watch a questionable hit.

Joe was playing very well and made a couple of 3 rail kicks, to make balls, against Kid D that made your jaw drop.

Mike Webb did have a few very nice cues there fs. The 2 snakewood cues were very nice and the ebony cue was def getting looks from all the players.

Jude,

That's right. I forgot about the masse incident. I was too far away to get a good idea of what was happening. Like Paul said, the Joe/Frankie incident was about racking. Joe is very critical about having a good rack and Frankie was peeved about it so he called for a neutral racker. There was some major tension during that match and immediately after but things worked out in the end. Initially they wanted Mike Z to do the racking but he told them to figure it out between themselves. Mike didn't seem too pleased and certainly didn't want to spend all his time racking for each player. Can't blame him.

Koop

On the masse incident. If a neutral party wasn't brought over prior to the shot, isn't the shooters call? I did the see the shot and it was a beauty but from the distance couldn't see whether or not he nudged the 6 first.

Boy am I comin off bad today. First with Frankie. He gave me a beautiful rack the first time, I broke and ran out. Next rack, very sloppy inthe middle (I think on purpose) I asked nicely for a rerack and he immediately started calling me a F****** Faggot with all this rack stuff, bla, bla, bla. He done it on purpose before and just tries to make me look bad in front of the crowd. And even if that's not the case, how do I beat Frankie while I'm giving perfect racks and I'm breaking bad ones? you all know how I feel about this 9 ball rack stuff (play 10 ball arguements decrease 90%) Frankie did the name calling thing, threatened me, was practicing and wacking balls on a different table during our match and people say "I can see both players view and Joe is real critical about the rack?" Mike as tour director refusing to rack while he was doing nothing but eating cake is rediculous. He threatened to forfiet both of us and I was just waiting for someone to rack. seems like cuz I'm friends with Mike he has an easier time being a little tough with me. Go figure.

The Masse incident I was right and wrong. Mike Denault is a very good friend of mine and I sorry this happened. He was Masseing around the six which was about an inch of the end rail to pocket the 2 ball on the same end rail. I was blocked from the shot so I got up to look around him he shot and I saw the 6 move. I call a foul, he says he didn't see it move, which I believe and is possible But I didn't imagine it, I saw it. So we have a minor arguement and I say it's your call, he says "I have to take it, cuz I didn't see it" I say go ahead and pocket the next ball. Now here's where I'm wrong. As I go back to the chair I notice the six is now almost froxen to the end rail and I can see the numbered part of the ball which is sitting on the top part of the ball now and Iknow it must look different on the camera that was filming the match but was body blocked as Mike shot the Masse. So I ask Mike to look at the camera to see if he can tell it's in a different position at which time he was going to do but my friend Mike Zuglan says we don't have a camera rule and it's Mike shot. Then Mike shoots a very easy shot, the ball was hanging in the pocket but he hooked himself. I then got ball in hand and ran out while feeling like a schmuck. My only good news is I have a copy of the match on disc and clearly see that the numbered part of the ball was not visable prior to the shot and after it was done you can now see the number proving it was in a different position.(Mike getting a copy)
Sorry to scar my best finish in an Ocean State event, I 0 for 14 in my home room.

Joe T

Joe,

First off congratulations on a great tournament. I don't think you're coming off bad at all. You played superbly all weekend. I don't know if you were referring to my posts at all but believe me when I say that I am neutral on this one. You were certainly the gentleman in the Frankie incident although I have to admit that I wouldn't have the patience either. I know your point though, in that playing someone of Frankie's skills you need as level a playing field as possible. I saw the masse shot but was too far away to see anything else. Steve Tavernier told my buddy and I while it was going on that you are probably the most honest player in there which we agreed with. But in that certain instance, isn't it up to you to get a someone to watch the hit? I would think it is the shooters call if a neutral party is not called in. Either way, great tournament and great to see you again.

Koop

Yeah Koop you're right, when it's going to be a close hit, call someone over. In this case there was nothing near the 2 ball so I didn't see the need to call someone over. 99 out of 100 times if the player is masseing around a ball and hits it or moves it, it's a foul and both players will obviously (I should say usually) see it. This unfortunately was the 1 out of 100 only one of us saw it and I'm real happy I have it on tape or I would still be wondering if I deserved to win that match.

Joe T

Joe,

I didn't mean to make it sound like you came off badly. If it sounds that way I apologize. You explained the Frankie incident quite well, as I wasn't close enough to hear the initial exchange, only the woofing for the crowd. In fact I think it worked out for you as you just came out and steamrolled him after that. Sometimes all we need is proper motivation.

Its nice to see that your a big enough man to admit when you we're wrong about not calling someone over. As far as the hit goes if the tape (instant replay) says your right then you're right.... My bad.

After seeing you play 3 or 4 of the Joss events I have to say this was the best I've seen you play. Your break was on and your kicking game was jaw dropping. My hats off to you sir...

Good luck down the road,

Paul

Thanks Paul,
I pride myself on playing fairly, so even though nobody said anything real bad, I was perhaps a little overly paranoid. I would rather lose than cheat and win.

About the performance, in my honest opinion, I fought hard and played good some key matches but it could have easily went the other way had I not got a bit of 9 ball luck, especially with my match against Jason Michas. Other events I have played far better and finished much lower. I haven't statted any matches yet but I know I'll be lucky to shoot over 900 in any of them, I'll let you know.

This might not be necessary but to show you how I act while playing.
I'm down 8-5 going 9 with Danny Deliberto, he's shooting the 5 instead of the 4, I politely stop him and correct him. Zigzag Master can vouch for this one.

Turning Stone Casino match, I'm close to an object ball and drawing back with the bridge. My opponent asks a ref to watch the shot. I shoot, ref says good. I say no, it was bad, I was drawing back and it just looked like a perfect stop shot but it hit my tip twice. Who was my mystery opponent? Initials FH and he's in this post.
