...(AKA Kentucky Bill}..From onepocket.org.

As far as my inclination John belongs in the Hall of Fame he qualifies under section three of the requirements."Someone who has had a lasting impact on the popularity and growth of the game." He has for forty years been a dominant ambassador for one pocket on the West Coast. He has published his own, very informative newspaper which was delivered throughout California...

..John has gone into every pool room in this area and has played any and all players. His ability to play way into the next day is legendary...His value to one pocket in the Bay area is that he is a teacher and an entertainer...JR Hendy has earned the nom de plume Gentleman John because he has always treated the game and his opponents with respect...

...No he has never been a road gambler or hustler or a late night gambler like RA, but he ran with both RA and San Jose Dick for many years. ...Onepocket.org has three critria for induction, normally only one criteria has been met, a hustler!...Criteria three fits Gentleman John to the letter.

I agree wholeheartedly..I think John should have been inducted into both HOF's years ago!..No one has done more to promote the game in a positive manner, than 'Gentleman John'..Most of the knowledgable players, here on AZB are aware of this!

John Henderson is well respected throughout Northern California and beyond.
A more respectful person you will not find. His prowess on the Table is also
well known and his knowledge of the game is second to none.
John certainly belongs in the HOF.

I never played the game of 1-hole, but from what I've heard and read about him...he belongs in the HOF for One Pocket. Johnnyt

I enjoy reading JH's posts on OnePocket.org. His posts tend to be constructive if about pool or comments in general. A true pool ambassador.

What's the name of John's newspaper?

I believe it was simply called 'the Billiard News'..He worked hard at it, and it was very informative..
But, like many worthwhile pool endeavors, John gave it up some years ago, due to lack of participation
by the room owners, and the players themselves! :frown:..Also, it was pretty costly for him to publish and distribute, and I don't think he really pursued any sponsorship money for ads!

PS..Seems to me I heard somewhere he is thinking of starting it up again?..Hope so! :p

I would like to see this happen. John is a great guy. Pool needs more guys like him for action and sportsmanship.
