Juma ferrule material

Softer hitting feel than Melamine or Ivorine, but a little firmer feel than Meucci or ABS material. It doesn't seem to take away anything or add anything to the hit. It is a very natural feeling material.
 
i have some. i made a fe cues with it. i was playing last night switching from my skip weston with ivory ferrules and my cue with juma ferrule. same tip moori meduim. juma plays softer IMO. i like a little crisper hit.

stays clean but plays just ok

What Dave says is correct. Let it be known Dave likes his cues to have that "tink" sound of a harder hit. So it won't be the best material for him. I on the other hand prefer the softer hit much like the old yellow micarta and the Juma has become my favorite. My new player will have Juma ferrules.:wink:

yes i am in no way bashing the product. sometimes i have trouble finding words to describe what i mean. it plays nice. for a person the likes a softer hit its nice. i like the pingy crisper ferrules :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

Basically the same material but the Juma is without the ivory grain look that the Elforyn features. Atlas now offers the Juma in joint & buttcap sizes as well as the ferrule size.

True...the Juma looks very similar to the mp ivory that many builders have used. Nothing wrong to me with a creme colored joint or buttcap. I have the mp as the joint on my personal sneaky.
Let me see if I can find a pic of the mp since the Juma will be nearly identical cosmetically....

Juma and Elforlyn

I don't know about preformance uses for Ferrules, but, Juma looks like a bar of High Impact Poyurethane that McDermott sold to me.. They might have sent the wrong material and called it HI Poly., but, it was a crean color.
Elforlyn has that cream colored base material, but, it has a white swirl mixed in, making it look like "cultured marble", the stuff they use for Kitchen and Bath counter tops in the 70's.. As shown in Photo below...
It's so obvious it's not Ivory..not even close.. I'm amazed it's compared to each other..
"Alternative Ivory" that I got, (the material that is sold under that name), looks the closest having those traslucent grian lines running up and down the bar, but, it's cross section looks like marbling, where Real Ivory has those "V" Pattern grain in it's cross section... Only thing bad is Alternative Ivory's cream color is darker than Ivory..And, cannot be as white as some of the Real Ivory I've seen on cues (Like the photo above).
I've tried to photograph the Alternative Ivory Grains, but, the Camera can't seem to captue that detail.
BTW, Elephant Ivory has 90* V's and Mastodon Ivory has 120* V pattern..

i was told walrus ivory has a "swirl" to it and hits a bit harder then elephant ivory. any truth? id love to try it but never seem to get my hands on any
 
A buddy / cue maker had some (Juma) and didn't like it. It turns much softer than even Elforyn, and has a softer hit than I like.

But.... that's why there's more than just vanilla at Baskin Robbins.
