Jump Cues In 14.1?

As soon as they choose to use them in Snooker, only then should it be considered.
truth is, they used to have jump shots being legal in snooker (and the ugliest version of a jump shot, mind you) until they realized how bad they were for the game, IMO. Since then intention to put the cue ball airborne is considered a foul in snooker

I don't see any harm in it. When you're hooked in 14.1, it's rarely on a hanger,
and making any non-hanging jump shot is a challenging, skillful shot.

If you miss, it's not like rotation games where you can often get lucky/safe.
You're gonna sell out virtually every time.

If someone wants to try a risky hail-mary type of shot with their jump cue,
they're welcome to it. Forget all the appeals to tradition like
"That's not how I played it growing up".
The game's half-dead. I'd rather see it evolve than die.

Why would you need to jump in 14.1? You can pocket any ball, not just the next number in rotation What am I missing?

you don't lol.. I've seen a few do it but they were usually bad players who didn't know any better . I jump well and i'm playing a lock down safe before I'm pulling the jump cue out in straight pool

... On a side note, how do American players treat jump cues in one pocket? Are they allowed under the rules, or everybody just agree not to use them? Or do they?

The WPA does not have rules for One Pocket, but under the "Official One Pocket Rules" adopted by OnePocket.org, jump cues are not permitted:

"Players may use jump shots in One Pocket as long as they are performed with the player's own standard playing cue using legal jumping techniques as defined in General Rules. Specialized jump cues are not permitted in One Pocket."

Could say the same thing about break cues. Why not just make everyone break with their playing cue? A jump shot with a full cue will give the advantage to the guy using a light cue with a hard tip, not just more ability. Try jumping a half ball with a heavy cue and a soft playing tip. You would be better off just outlawing jump shots all together.

Absolutely! I agree 200%. Ban any and all jump shots, the games would be much better off with that change. Save the jump shots for the trick shot shows, and then I don't care if they glue tips on hammers.
