Just a thought about Efren

Am I the only one that has noticed this factoid:

Any event that had a 1st prize of six figures plus (Color of Money with Earl, Japan Open & IPT King of the Hill) has been won by Efren Reyes!!! Only one exception being IPT with Sigel and Loree Jon as Efren was not invited.

If I am not mistaken, in the Japan Open (worth like $165k for 1st) Efren ran an 8-pack of 9-Ball 3x.

I have been lucky enough to have played Efren (for over 12 hours), watched him play many times in money games and tournament play as well as having him as a bit of an amigo for many years.

In my opinion Efren is by far the best player I have ever seen and the more money you post, the better he plays!

I couldn't agree more. He's by far my favorite player to watch and he does things other players don't even think about. I think the pool fans of today are lucky to be able to watch Efren while he is still playing. It'll be a sad day when he retires from playing, but I read he just had eye surgery and his vision is better than ever so maybe he'll be around for quite a while.

Efren is amazing, creative and probably the best $$$ player around (both gambling/tournament play).

Better than Babalu?:D
Agreed.

if interested..

this post (and the seemingly endless ones like it) backs up what i was saying in mike's "derby city observations of a non pro player" thread. i think there's too much efren praise, regardless of whether he deserves it or not. check out that thread if you're interested.

Straight up playa hatin'.

So what if we like talking about how great he is.....don't read it if you don't like it...

Besides being such an outstanding player, the guy is so friggin humble and like able. Seems like people are happy to lose to him, and He always said he was "lucky"........yea right!:D

BTW....has anyone ever heard about someone beating Efren gambling?

Then again if we talked about Salma enzo would be all about that and probably drone on for hours, right?

and I guess you said the same thing to people when they talked about michael jordan, or tiger woods, the list can go on forever, he is the best in the game right now and deserves any praise that he gets.

before his LASIK surgery, Ronnie Alcano often plays Efren in Gambling.... Rotation even(sometimes Ronnie has to spot Efren), 9-ball even... most of the time back then, Efren is always getting beaten by Ronnie.. but from what i heard now, Efren's getting Ronnie's number now after his surgery.

Um, there can't be too much praise if someone deserves it. Efren Reyes has elevated the game of pocket billiards with his fantastic play and his humble and generous demeanor. You never ever hear of any screwy stories about Efren dumping his backers, hocking the gear donated to him or anything but how nice and easygoing he is. You don't hear any stories about him making racist comments about his fellow players. You don't hear any BS excuses as to why he lost.

Efren Reyes is a pool god.

Some people can't stand the fact that Efren consistently performs well and wins most of the big tournaments, by big I mean the six figure tournaments already pointed out in this thread.

Your apparent disdain for Efren has been a recurring theme of yours. Is there something you know about Efren that we don't? I've never seen an explicit reason for your darts at him. Why would you want to step into a "praise thread" and muddy the waters? Most of your posts are intelligent and thoughtful, but when you get on your anti-Efren bandwagon with no apparent reason, you kinda lose credibility IMO. But...free country, free forum, do what you will, but it just makes us Efren-admirers all the more adament.

maybe everyone should read the thread i referred to before saying i shouldn't say this about efren. there i give my reasons. maybe you'll agree with me, freddy the beard did.

Who's Babalu? :)

I believe Dennis Orcullo can beat Efren gambling as well. However, Efren is my pool idol and always will be. :)
