Somebody pick up that pin that just dropped.....I know I heard something.
I think that it's called "The Silence of the Lambs".
At this point, aside from the players that have earned and deserve their tournament money, does it really matter as far as the longer term prospects for the IPT go? I think that so much pr and credibility damage has been done that the IPT is limping to the finish line. I feel bad for the players and fans, the ones that put their heart and soul on the line and have been constantly deceived and violated from day one. Yes, a few big names had a couple of great pay days and good for them, IF they were paid in cash and in full, not in stock options, and not payment promises.
Understandingly, most players that are owed money are hoping that the tour will continue and will not publicly denounce the IPT or express their displeasure. They can't be blamed, they have a lot to possibly loose.
And I don't think that there is one single person who posts here that doesn't wish that pool would become respectable and mainstream, with livable purses and national exposure. But there's an old saying, "a fish rots from it's head down". Quite frankly, KT is impossible for many people to root for, and although most of the IPT's employees are totally professional and respectable, most have no alternative but to follow upper management's directions.
The IPT organization will reflect KT's former business practices, which display a strong disregard for honesty, fairness, respect and credibility. These are all necessary leadership qualities required for a positive imaged pool tour, not only good for the fans but also for the players.
But, all of us, except the players, are wasting our typing strokes. Many of their futures are on the line, they're following a dream that they want to believe it, and who can blame them, certainly not I. And when, and if, they recieve their checks, all will be forgiven and everyone will kiss and make up .... until the next tournament cancellation, increase in qualifier fees or non-payment of prize money.
I, personally, cannot believe a thing KT says, whether it's another sale of the IPT, the amount of the sale, their financial viability, their tv ratings or his $100,000.00 guarantee. He will do as he pleases as long as he believes that he will benefit from it, and when he believes that he will not - well, all bets and promoses are off. Right now he is probably calculating whether or not the monies owed are worth it for him to pay.
I really hope that the checks are recieved tomorrow and that there are future opportubities for the players to make some well deserved money.
