Seems like everyone on this board is talking about putting racks down like it's going outta style, I'm just wondering if I'm the only guy on here my speed.

I'll start "AA" (Joking obviously)

I'm a B player about anywhere I go in San Diego.

I don't know how to correlate to A thru D, but ...
I'm a 6 in both 8-ball and 9-ball in the APA. And my winning average in the 2 non-handicapped leagues I play in is .650. Does that correlate to a 'C'? Maybe, certainly NOT a 'B'.

From what I have seen on many rating systems, by many ratings you would be like a C shooter.

Myself, an APA SL5, I would be like a D+.

I subbed for a team for APA just a couple times a few years back.. They made me a 7, and I didn't seem to have any trouble beating the opponents in the sets? From what I understand about that rating system though it doesn't go any higher then 7? And I'm certainly no A player, so I'd be even up with an A?

In SD.....

When I play in SD I'm an A. I'm actually gonna be at oncue this afternoon if you wanna come by and play. One thing about SD though is that the people rated as an A would be an A+ in most places, so don't be too upset about being a B. And yes most of the people on here who talk about putting down a bunch of racks all the time are more than likely blowing smoke. Considering that the pros only average about 1 in 3 games in nine as break and runs, don't get down on yourself if you aren't running racks all the time. An occasional 3 or four pack is exactly that occasional.

I will usually run out when I have an open table, but all you have to do is go to video.google.com and look up billiards and watch Archer's match there to see how often the pros do miss.

You've got to also understand that if your only experience with watching pros is on TV, that they edit those matches and take out all of the really bad racks, so what your seeing is the best 45 minutes of that particular match.

So if you do see a miss then you know that there was less than 45 minutes of excellent play.

Yeah, that's how it works, in 8-ball at least. APA doesn't get all that many A players, so people who are 7's are usually in the B to A- range, I think. At least that seems true among the 5 or so 7's who play where I play.

I'm a 6, and I'd guess I'm probably a C or C+ player, but I'm on my way up!

;) I'm not down on my game at all. I've been playing long enough to know that if I put the time in I'll be an A. I just quit for alot of years after running into John Schmidt of all people.. LOL Made me not want to play pool for awhile if you know what I mean. Although I'd guess people would say I had "heart" on this website, in retrospect I'd say it was a stupid bet. :D

Wish I could be down at Oncue this afternoon, but ultimately I'm picking up my home table this weekend, and by the time all those expenses added up if I so much as spend a nickel I'm going to come up short. I'm broke for a couple weeks until I get rid of an old cadillac that I have.

I 'll pick up table time if you wanna play.

I am a C player by most standards. Of course, there's a huge range of players in the C rank.

If I play regularly I am an "A" player. I haven't been playing much the last couple of years so I am currently playing at a "B" level.

The best players don't need or want to tell you how great they are. The guys who brag about how great they use to play are the easiest marks in my opinion

Yeah... "C" the table, Run da balls. Are you going to play this Saturday?

yeah Tom, I'm going to try to make it down there... but money is getting tight... I need to find a D player I can beat to support this habit.. lol

I don't know what I am, never played leagues. I've never played many tournaments either so I have never been ranked.

But I guess from the explanations I have seen on the different speeds I am a Aish player. Maybe a bit better, I dunno.

hard to say

My game is a bit of an enigma. When I used to play regularly I was competitve in open tournaments but certainly not a favorite. The best showing I ever had was 2nd in a large U.S. Open qualifier tourney. I have won quite a few open tournaments in the last few years even though I play 3 times a month max. I have beaten 2 former world champs in tournaments and AA players say they hate to draw me. Alas, I am rated a C in the local handicap tourney (was a B a few different times) and struggle to cash. I guess I am an inconsistent B.
