Easy installing, and great price...
I installed and turn on the lathe, I did not have a chance to check what is the runout yet. I am sure that should not be a problem to make final adjustment.Dave38 said:Have you inserted a trued up long piece and measured the runout on both sides yet to see if both chucks are matching in the runout? If not equal, is it easy to adjust to get it there? I'm curious as I would like to do this for my atlas, but am concerned about the alignment between the 2.

Thanks Scott , I think I'll like this set up more better than the old Porper lathe set up with a long pipe and a steady rest with 3 black rubber rings that make a black mark on you cue or shaft:thumbup: .ScottR said:Good addition, Kenny.

Thanks Joey, I am sure you have set up similar like I have or betterJoeyInCali said:You suck!
That's nice.
I gotta get one.
No I don't.FLYINGSNAIL said:Thanks Joey, I am sure you have set up similar like I have or better![]()
I will check tomorrow morningJoeyInCali said:No I don't.
I use inside spindle collets.
What's the runout on that thing when you insert a long rod?
Can you get it down to less than a thou?
I use the same thing on my Atlas, which is a pain in the a$$ to dial in sometimes. A good rear chuck system would be great.JoeyInCali said:No I don't.

How long of a rod? 1" out is .001JoeyInCali said:No I don't.

That's good . ThnxFLYINGSNAIL said:How long of a rod? 1" out is .001
You want something other than wood, more like phenolic or a good plastic for the rod. I would first turn the rod between centers to true it up, it must be long enough to span both chucks and then sticks out atleast an inch in the front and the rear. I then would then chuck it up and then measure the runout in the front, then the rear. I would also mark the higher side with a sharpie, then do the rear and then compare to see if the 2 higher sides align together.FLYINGSNAIL said:How long of a rod? 1" out is .001
At rear chuck mounted with a precision ground rod , measure at 6" out still .001 and front chuck is .0001Dave38 said:You want something other than wood, more like phenolic or a good plastic for the rod. Just my way of doing it.
