how about all the cash he made on the side. He was in constant action at the Expo and i never saw him lose.

You know what's really amazing is the I talked to a guy at the pool hall the other day and he didn't even know who SVB was. And this guy plays!!

I've made $350,000 in the past ten years and never even had to get out of the reclining chair ;) (not counting the accrument of interest)!!!

What's more imortant than how much money SVB's making this year is what he does with it and how he prepares himself for the future. But, from what I've read about him, he has a pretty good financial head on his shoulders. I'll betcha he's done some smart investing and/or saving.

I wonder how much of that really translates to kept money.
Sure he won some $85K in 10 tournaments.
But after all the expenses are paid does he really net?
What, maybe he was able to net $60K after all is paid which is still really good.
Realistically there are very few that can make a living at playing this game.

I played Shane yesterday, he was alright... In all seriousness I wish the best for the people that try to make a living out of this difficult, difficult game we play. I unfortunately chose a career that provides money, fast cars, motorcycles, guns, and a smoking hot woman...yet I still envy those who can run rack after rack.

Hate to put a turd in the punch bowl, but not only does he have to pay expenses, he also have to give his fare to our leaders in Washington called the IRS. They will take some too. As stated already, hopefully he is saving/investing for the future. I think the guy is a class act.

True

So true but plenty of write offs though with travel, entry fees, food per idem, etc. I'm no CPA but I would think legally he's got many write offs that would cut down Uncle Sams share.

I'm a bit sensitive to this topic and SVB probably gets 1099's but you are knocking his action possibly to the IRS.

bch,
Hmmm....so you are saying the rest of us taxpayers should feel privileged to carry the load for those that don't report their income??? Very interesting position.

I'm not saying he doesn't report, but anyone that doesn't is just scamming the regular taxpayers (not the government). I pay taxes, and don't really want to pay more than I already do.

He gets what he deserves-
in my opinion there are perhepas 1-2 hands full of players which are practicing as much as Shane does (in the world!). To nonstop work on his abilities at this high-level makes the difference. He shows the other american guys clearly why he s the Top Number One player in the USA.

Hard work pays back- and he works much harder than any other american *professional*.

Hats of for Shane- a great player and champion in his young years.

lg from overseas,
Ingo
