Just love these kinda folks...

I always think this when I see your posts! Honestly...I would stop setting the cue on deck screws to take the photos, turns me off right away, makes me think the cue would show up all scratched. May just be in my head, but seems a bad way to display a cue to me.

I'm with you on that one..... hope the OP learns a valuable lessson here... I would not buy the cue just because of the photos..... anyone putting a nice cue like that on a couple of deck screws I'm thinking maybe was not to concerned about who he handled his cue when at league or tourneys... of course, we know the OP only handled with kit gloves... but you need to show it with photos that confirm it :)

I used to do that at the night clubs ... ask enough women to go home with you and eventually you get a yes. Plus, you get a bunch of free drinks if you can time opening your mouth with them throwing their drink in your face.

lmao ! good one.....goes to show timing is everything ! :)

If there is one eBay truth, it is that good photography sells.

I've had guitars sell for 15-20% higher than they should have because bidders got excited by the pictures. Pictures create the emotional attachment that drives the last couple of bidders to go higher.

Your pictures don't do the cue justice. As a potential owner, I certainly don't want to see my future cue resting on sharp screw threads. Ouch!

Regarding low-ball offers. Sure, they're insulting but they're a fact of life in selling. I just say, "Thanks for the offer." Why waste my time addressing their comments? That would only encourage them.

I tell high pressure salesmen to go to a long walk off a short pier...

"Sounds like you would like to purchase a car in this price range".

I like that line.

Customers would always use the excuse, "I have to ask my wife".

We would turn our phones around, facing them and push the phone towards them. There ya go Pal, ask your wife.

When salesmen try to pressure me to make a decision right then, I know they're screwing me and I walk away, sometimes with not too nice responses...

I'll find someone who won't try to pressure me...

Stated earlier, the cue is not resting on threads of any sort as these are vinyl coated screws that the threads do not go the entire way up. Unfortunately one of the many challenges I have at my home which happens to be a villa in Florida is that I am VERY limited in space with natural indirect sunlight to take pictures in nor do I have a pool table not to mention with natural indirect sunlight...

Anyhow, I am working to find a way to take better pictures. As long as I can do it early in the day for the lighting to be right.

I actually handle every cue with my driving gloves from my Ferrari as well, JK, LOL...

If you hear from him again, if he's giving away Mike Stacey cues I'll gladly take a couple off his hands, he seems to be running out of room or something...

You can take pictures indoors with good light to fill in and not have shadows or reflections. No flash or anything. It is also good to have the picture in a program you can use to improve the picture. I am not saying to remove something to hide a blemish, mostly to color correct. Have the cue next to you and mess with the picture till it is exactly what the cue looks like.

Cues can come out way off color in pictures. Sharpen it a little and make it as clear as possible. Fuzzy half out of focus pictures are a real turn off. Also. If you host your own pictures so you don't have ebay screwing with them and use html when creating the description, you can make a great professional looking ad and way beyond someone with pictures of a $1000.00 cue just laying on the floor.

It is worth the effort. It looks like you have a few thousand dollars worth of cues for sale right now. A little extra effort can be worth a lot of money to you. Once you have your templets created you just put in the pictures and info and you are good to go. May be a little work at first but then it is easy sailing and will serve you for years to come.

They or anyone is entitled to make a bid for whatever amount they wish, altho groping in the dark or just plain ignorant.

But, making stupid comments as the EBay bidder did is, like I said both ignorant and unnecessary.

No matter how badly I needed money, something like that would only ensure that they would not purchase the item or anything from myself in the future.

Do yourself a favor and block him from EBay Bidding on anything in your store.

If I was bidding, I might not offer you the full amount but $310 is stupid low ball. It is a super nice cue. Just the style that I prefer.

I'll find someone who won't try to pressure me.

Jaden, I know what you mean. I was never a High Pressure salesman and wasn't very good at it anyway. Just honest and these days, I think people respect honesty more than anything. Personally, I do the same as you as I don't like to receive pressure from anyone in making a decision when it involves money.

That little trick that I mentioned is the same as the other fellow used to do. Just a way of nicely weeding out the people that are serious or may be serious in the future as opposed to having a couple of hours to kill so they will hit a car lot and kill an hour or 2 of my time.

In most cases, when a person is married, it is a very legitimate thing to say, that you have to consult with your wife. They have to be involved in
money spending situations and they also have to approve of the vehicle that you are looking at.

When buying a vehicle, pick out what you want and make an offer. If the salesman refuses, ask him if he will take your name and number. If he does, he will be calling you back the next day with a counter offer or anything to get you back into negotiating.

I would never make a deal the first time I walked onto a lot. It would always leave you wondering if you couldn't have done something better.

Or from the best car movie ever, Suckers...I don't have to ask my wife to sell you a car, why do you have to ask yours to buy one? That is a great movie.

Read your post and so I checked the cue out.....the only thing I can see that's a drawback is the weight being under 18 ozs.
This cue is really light and so is there a weight bolt? Otherwise the cue is a classic design and looks nice. Is there any ivory?

One of my cues also has a brass 3/8x11 thread flat ivory joint and I enjoy the cue's hit. So naturally I wondered about your cue
and the other offer you received was more in line with a old, used Meucci cue. Ignore the ignorant-minded and their bullshit.

If your going to hang a cue with deck screws, it's always good to pre-drill the forearm first to prevent splitting.

Just a tip....

Pressure means screwing you? That is ridiculous, if you ever knew how little the average car deal is you would shit yourself. With the competition there isn't a way to screw anyone, especially if you are getting a loan, a bank will not let it happen.

Funny how many times I have asked a person to buy a vehicle. The excuses are many, and they expect you to call them back with a discount. I loved when they would call back in a couple of days and say they want the car, and it was sold. They would say things like, you know I wanted that car. I would just say I asked many times to purchase and you didnt.

Here is a good one, I use to say, and it would work with cues.

In the car business one of the most heard of statements is, "what is your best price"

I would reply, "it sounds like you like the car, and would like to have a quick easy deal, correct?" They would reply, "Yes". I would then say, "Great I love to sell cars this way, gets the deal done quick so I can look for another buyer. Thank you, this is going to be easy. Remember this is just business, nothing personal. You tell me the most you are willing to pay for the vehicle, and if I can make it work for the dealership I will do the deal, if not, we can part as friends. An easy yes or no for me and you. So, what is the most you will pay for the car?"

Their eyes would get big, now they are in a state of confusion, basic hypnosis has taken place. Now a command, while they are in confusion (hypnosis) like, "By Now, you know the price of $...... is more than fair, let's write it up" See your mind doesn't know the difference between By Now and Buy Now. Hypnosis is awesome.

Back to the cue situation. If someone gives you a low ball offer it is easy to be mad and clam up. Come back with why you think the cue is worth what you are asking, concrete evidence, and stick to your price at first. Then, ask them why they think it is worth the offer they stated. Always give a reason when you discount. You aren't an auctioneer you are a salesperson/negotiator. Take $50 off with a reason, then $25 off with a reason $12 off with a reason etc. One of the biggest things I would tell my salespeople was the customer probably wants the car more than you want to sell it.

Why do you assume that he is talking about car salesmen? He may be talking about those people who cold call you or and try to sell you a home security system. I read a book years ago called,

"When I Say No, I Feel Guilty"

They should teach this in school. it would make peoples lives easier. It would not do much for your business though. All those dopey little traps you try to use to get into people pockets don't work once you realize the salesman is not your friend, just a guy trying to make a buck.

The funniest one is when the salesman tries to demean the customer about their ability to afford the item. The buyer can be such a sucker he actually wants to impress this salesman. The same salesman who is trying to screw him.

I can't believe it, I just went in the other room and it is still in the book case along with my Robert Ringer books like "Looking out for number one".
I used to read all those types of assertive self help books, I think they helped me in hustling pool.
