Just Saying Howdy

LMAO @ the peculiar turn this thread is taking......Rest assured, I am a very straight conservative dude....that SN is just one I've used on most forums, representing the car.....it has zero sexual intent whatsoever! ;)

I actually intended on using my blue chalk....cloth can be replaced every few years as needed......the shafts, not so much if wanting to keep them original. Chalk stains on any color cloth just shows the table gets used... :D

With that being said...you'll do just fine here on AZ:thumbup:

Welcome to the forums!

I am also a carguy and pool lover. Don't live too far from you, in the metro Kansas City area.

I totally agree with Kevin. It will be hard for you to understand and agree with, but after you have been on the forum for a while you will totally agree with him. Many people just getting back into pool are into " interior decorating" and color matching, but it will soon fade away. You can always change later, it is not overly expensive.

Kinda like the guy who won a gold medal in the Olympics, liked it so much he wanted to preserve it so he had it "bronzed", like baby shoes.

Welcome to AZ! You will like it here.

I always have to be different...what can I say. I used to have an 8ft table years ago with red cloth....always liked it. The 'wine' being darker, I'll report back after I've played on it for a while....but the color has never really seemed to affect my game, I stink at playing on any color cloth!! ...well I do now anyway, I was a pretty decent player back in the day....but thats the old person in me talking.

I already feel at home here....a bunch of wise-ass jokesters....yes sir, that is me to a tee!

Get some Mister Clean Magic Erasers for those shafts (or generic equivalent from Dollar Store).

Come over to Billiards of Springfield for the state tournament to get your mind back on pool. We're also supposed to be regaining ONE snooker table at business re-opening in Springfield soon. If you ever played golf on a snooker table, you might want to come over and contribute. ;)

Springfield, Missouri Pool Players on Facebook if you want to learn of tournament action, read a lot of woofing, or just find out who is hot on the tables (and maybe who is not).

Nice to see another Missouri boy on the forum.

Thank you Sir. I see you're from Greenfield. Do you happen to know who owns the old Washington Hotel? I've always wanted to get my hands on that old building!!

Welcome sir ! Very nice room; you should have loads of entertainment in that room. Funny I bought my first table about 4 years ago. My daughters talked me into buying the same color cloth since it went with the decor (I put the table in my living room). After playing on it for about six months I hated it. Found I could really see the balls better on green or blue, specifically blue. So I ordered some 860 simonis tournament blue and haven't looked back. My daughters told me that the blue didn't go with the deocr. I told them the decor doesn't go with my pool table ! Good luck and welcome !

You're too late for the hotel. It was torn down and removed at a cost of $30,000 to the town. It was in terrible shape and any money spent would have been good money after bad.

There are a few trees and a picnic table there now.

The rest of the town square is badly dilapidated with the exception of two buildings. The bank on the corner is for sale now (that building has been fairly well maintained). That bank building is going to sell VERY cheap... the county recently bid $25K for it.

Big Z fan

Welcome, I'm also a z fan owning a z31,(also big block chevy) and a big pool fan just returning to the game. The room and table look awesome and I'm sure you will enjoy them. If you can, definitely play tournaments, it's how you get your game back. JSS

Who did own it and why was it allowed to fall down like that. tragic for what was an amazing piece of architectural history....sad to know its gone. I would loved to have restored it to its glory. I was in Greenfield a couple years ago and wandered through it.

I will definitely post some updates as the table is setup and my pool room really starts to develop. I have a 65" TV and an old school Marantz surround system for the room as well....I'm a staunch football fan, so the room will also serve as a home theater as well. No couch, but either a wall mounted bar or high tables with spectator chairs. I really think I will like the color, but I do respect your opinions and appreciate all the input. I'm loving this place so far, and believe me, it takes an incredible forum to impress me.

I am not at all sure who owned it last, but whoever it was abandoned it. It had become a terrible safety hazard with large chunks of bricks falling down, part of the roof had collapsed, and all that was left was an eyesore. It needed to be gone.

I own 2x 100,000+ member forums...

You are 51 members short on at least one of those. There are many, many nerds on here you can poach to boost the numbers up a little, however, so you should reach 100k by the end of the year.

Strange Predator. Never heard of that one, nor have I seen a 314-2 with such a large ferrule. Looks like there were 500 made.

Salem. Scared the the living shit out of me as a child.

I have # 118. It has a uni-lock joint, which I've read a lot of mixed reviews on.....I'll know for sure when I play it I guess.
