just to brag a little... :D

Nice job Marek! I hope to see videos of this someday =) ...I think that although Ralf probably wasn't happy to lose, it would please him to know just how much it meant to you to beat The Legendary Ralf Souquet.

I think this is a good case for alternate breaks. I remember Ralf running a 5- or 6-pack in 10 ball during major championships. But here you were given a chance and you made the most of it... and made it a close, exciting match. Fans enjoyed it and you got to play another day.

Ralf was absolute profesional at the moment of defeat, he shook my hand firmly and thanked me for the match. And yes, alternate break format is quite an equalizer but on the other hand it is much harder to come back when you are behind, you have to hope for mistakes from your opponent. :frown:

Well I tried to keep my focus all the time, I told myself 3-4 times per rack that he is just human...just human. That way I forced myself to believe I still got a chance even 2:7 down...

How cool that you are posting here on AZ.

I watched that match, and I could see how much that match meant for you when you pocketed the last 9!

When you had the last 2 or 3 balls left on the table, and walked a quick round around the table to calm your nerves, I just smiled and hoped you could beat him! Till that moment I rooted for Ralf :D

I am a HUGE fan of Ralf Souquet, so hope he doesn't read this haha :)

Too bad another AZ'er "marvel" (Markus Juva) put you out of the tournament with that 9-1 defeat. He could atleast given you a couple of more games, but maybe he was afraid after your big comeback against Ralf and just wanted to win as quickly as possible ;)

Congratulations on the win Marek. I bet you were buzzing too much too sleep. Ralf is a great player with many titles.
Get some sleep and good luck on the B side.

Hi people, I had a wonderful evening last night, I had supertough draw at European pool championships in 9ball getting Ralf Souquet who had won gold medal in 10ball division earlier this week...to make long story short: I was 2:7 behind in alternate break format but still I have been able to come back and have beaten Ralf 9:8....what an experience!!!! jeez, 60+ people were cheering for me in the stands and after the match everybody wanted to shake my hand and to take picture with me....on the other hand I was soooo psyched-up that I could not fall asleep till 2am and woke up again at 5am....so my morning match at 9am was terrible, could not play my game and lost 4:9 against polish player Karol Skowerski. But I am still in the tournament, I can still go through the losers side with enough sleep. Anyway this EC is successful for me as I achieved my goal to get into the final 32 in straight pool division with some good play from my side....

LOL thats too funny, you get so pumped up you forgot to sleep to play the next day. I understand that, well I never beat Ralf but If I did I might never sleep again. Congratulations. I hope you play Ralf in the finals again, Ralf is a good friend of mine, but this time i'm on your side!!!! very nice win you will never forget. Ralf will want to forget-but for you my friend next time I see Ralf I will remind him of this match just for you, I like to give Ralf a hard time as a joke sometimes, all in good fun.

Markus Juva is terrific player, he has beaten me in last 32 in straight pool division as well even if by very small margin (113:125). Our 9ball match was cool as well, he played almost flawless pool and I was very tired and even got "little" unlucky - bad position on 9 in the second game, in the 4th game cueball got "shocked" when contacting 9..potted 2 85 degrees cutshots and cueball scratched..such stuff..sometimes you dont have anything left in you and that was the case. Next time I meet Markus, he will be fighting better player than yesterday... :D

Thx. I am out of the tournament as I couldnt fall asleep even the next night!!!! I was able to win one more match 9:8 but then my not-so-little a$$ was kicked by Markus Juva :)
