Justin Bergman is on a mission

Justin Bergman is showing up everywhere, competing in as many events as possible, and making his intentions crystal clear. This isn’t just about participation. It’s about dominance, consistency, and putting himself right in the middle of every meaningful conversation in the sport.

When a player stays this active, it sends a message. He’s hungry, he’s focused, and he just might have 2026 Mosconi Cup visions dancing in his head.

Unfortunately a little late in life.

What he wants to start doing at 39 years old is quite a bit different than what he’s been doing for over 20 years now. A different mind set than what’s he’s been doing.

He’s going to play good still but the drop off in play is at any moment.

I remember when he first came to DCC when he was about 16 and that scumbag pimp from Atlanta was threatening him and the kid was scared to death about it. A couple of us told him the kid was with us and not to fuk with him. Seems like a lifetime ago.

He'll need to place well at one of those three events to have a chance at the Mosconi team. He's been skipping the domestic ranking events and international events, which puts him at a disadvantage.

Also, thank you for sharing this information, but I think it would be better without the sloppy AI analysis intro.

This is wonderful news, as to this point, just the opposite has been true. The Mosconi points race runs from November to November, so it is nearly half over, and Justin has zero Mosconi ranking points at present.

The fact that he is playing in an Ultimate 8ball event, to me, is of no import, but Florida Open, US Open and Arizona Open are all WNT majors that figure to have tough fields. They will be a good proving ground for a player that has not, to my knowledge, played in a rotation pool major this decade.

I have long been a Justin Bergman fan and may well have been the first to declare him to be America's best "after-the-break player" some ten years ago. He has always had a great mind for pool, and if he is ready to start competing frequently at rotation pool again, perhaps he can rediscover some of the old magic. He is one of America's best ever defensive players and he is also a great kicker. The fact that his break was always his weakness won't matter as much today as it did in his prime. Back then, there was no break box, the pockets were 4 1/2" and the one was racked on the spot. Assuming that he will put in the time to learn the Matchroom break, I'm guessing Justin will find WNT conditions to his liking.

He's giving himself every opportunity to show Johan the state of his game. I'm sure he realizes in full that if his competitive results in WNT play are unremarkable, Johan would be unlikely to use up a Team USA wild card on someone who will be 39 by the time the selections are made. That said, there is no reason to think that those results will be unremarkable, for if Justin gives it everything he has, I think he will be successful.

Go get 'em Justin. You can do this!

When I saw him play at the Jr Nationals, two yrs in a row at Magoos on 9 footers in 2001 ish, I was always impressed with his game and his consistency. He's been out/about allot more lately and his 9 foot experience is his roots. Hope he makes the team.

Great player, beyond world class. But, not quite anywhere near a Bobby Fischer type and a bit of a know it all. I hope he proves me wrong.

Great news! I remember when Tony Ellin started playing every event he could, including regionals. He was in tournament action every week. That's when he made it to the US Open finals against Earl. Sad his life was cut short. He would have won at least one Open and who knows how many others.

LONG overdue.... somebody, finally got into his head. (y)
Good to see, but he might have to play in a few international events to rack enough points. We'll see if he's willing to travel. He hasn't so far.

He's already show this year he can play with the best. Age is not an issue. He is in good condition.
JB and Johan back in Team USA. We are going to win the MOSCONI!
Let's not get carried away!
Heard this same song and dance from Mike Dechaine not too long ago, hopefully Bergman fares better.
Deschaine never signed up for any big WNT or Predator events. Last time he played in the US Open was in 2016.

The good news for Bergman is that nobody has a lot of points. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EPBSKqyrc/

The bad new is, points won't be easy to come by. My guess is, he is really playing for a wild card.
