If you believe that it means that you have not watched much of the UPUSA play. Dry breaks are pretty common. Scratching on the break is not uncommon as is being hooked after the break and sometimes pro's miss, even on a barbox. I know its hard to believe because all barbox haters make every single ball on the "kiddie table" and cant be bothered to even acknowledge they exist because the game is just so damn easy on a barbox.
I don't know if I would say Cousin's patterns are better but he does have a way of getting around the table with minimal cue ball movement. That seems to be a common trait for most Brits.
who is putting up the 100 thousand dollars they are playing for. is it winner take all.

That's how I'd define pattern play. If you can run out with minimal cue ball movement and all easy shots, your patterns are real good. I can't remember which event it was, but I seem to remember watching Tom Cousins carry his ~450 fargo partner deep in the mixed doubles tournament a few months back.
I'm with you, the $ amount in the middle doesn't mean much to me. It's promoted that way to make it seem like the players have a ton of pressure on them, in reality they're often free-rolling or close to it

Yes, thank you. I looked up his picture that's the guy I remember watching one match. I thought he was in the finals and won. Maybe it was a match just before the finals I remember.

If they are using UP rules (alternate break, 8 racked on the spot) I don't think Bergman stands a chance.
how so? seems he's winner or runner up every UPUSA stop i watch (which is sporadic, but i've seen a few)
If moving across the shot line instead of along the shot line I probably wouldn't call minimal movement the "better" of the two. I have also seen Cousins settle for harder shots while keeping cue ball movement minimal. I think there's more to pattern play than minimal cue ball movement.
Have you not seen any of the UPUSA tournaments??
Sounds like Sam Henderson. Yes he plays once in a while. I pretty sure he is playing in the KC Event.
It is UP rules and format, minus the match clock. Bergman definitely stands a chance. I think they could play this match 100 times and win 50 each. They're both too good.
There was a little bit of hyperbole in my comment, but I think the match will still see a very high percentage of break-and-runs.

I never understood all the barbox hate, and for all of those who say it’s “too easy” how about challenging the winner or loser to 100k? As far as this match I’m rooting for Justin Bergman!
I think Bergman is clearly the better player. Barbox 8b though is a great equalizer, as the bar is low enough that run-of-the-mill strong players can still look world class. Anyone can win this match. But if they played it 100 times (so 3000 racks) there would be clear results in the favor of JB.
I promise you, barbox 8b is not too easy for me. But I'm not too stupid to see that barbox 8b for world-class caliber players is a joke. The percentage of one-inning games will probably be over 80%, might be over 90%.
