Kamui chalk review!!!

I registered at that link no problem. I have never saw a piece of this chalk. I have no doubt that there is a lot of variables that occur in that .0008 sec when the tip is on the ball. I expect anything you can do to make that time more effective will give a positive return. I like that 4 dollar billiard chalk Sang Lee it is messy but better than Masters. I look forward to trying the Kamui chalk.
 
I purchased a slightly used cube from a fellow AZB member yesterday and gave it a try....

The chalk, to me, is akin to a thin, light paste. I used it on my Kamui Black Soft tip and I was able to shoot 10-14 extreme english strokes before feeling the need to rechalk. It stuck to my phenolic break tip nicely but I believe the compound negatively affected my breaks slightly.

I was able to apply extreme english outside my normal boundry and agree it out performed the only other chalk I've used, Masters, but the feeling is definitely different and I will need to get used to it.

I do prefer the Kamui chalk but I doubt I will buy additional cubes at $25. My threshold would be around $5.00.

Next up is Blue Diamond....
 
One of the Canadian players who played in the U.S. Open One Pocket in Vegas gave me a piece of "NIR Super Professional Chalk" made by Longoni. Haven't tried it yet. Anyone out there know anything about it?
 
i use the "NIR" chalk and think it is much better than "masters". it seems to not be as "powdery", it seems to have a more smooth application and thereby "hugs" the tip better. howver, i am going to try the kamui asap.

I bought some and hated it. It was super soft, chalky and made a HUGE mess.

I will stick with BD and Pre Flag Masters!!!

I found this stuff to be kind of powdery and messy but preformed quite well, just don't put it in your pocket. I liked the Kaumi, but at 25 bones a cube, I just can't justify that, and if you should ever find yourself without it you'd probably have to adjust your whole game. For the money I have found the Blue Diamond to do the job or the Masters (pre-American Flag). The Blue Diamond just feels better and to me it out lasts most of the others
 
The Cube of Kamui chalk I got to test sure was MESSY, it spread like LIP GLOSS on the Cue Tip. But I had to bring the Cue Ball home I was using for a good HAND POLISHING, as the Ball Polishing Machine at our Pool Room did not touch the MESSY CUE BALL.
 
Chalking before every shot has become one of the steps in many players' pre-shot routines. At 50 cents a cube this pre-shot step costs very little, plus it provides effective insurance against miscues. And it doesn't really matter whether you use Master, NTC, or Silver Cup, they all do the job if applied before every decently stroked shot. No $25.00 or $3.50 chalk is needed.

I registered on the site as posted above and received an email yesterday saying there was a limited quantity of cubes left for sale and the next batch wouldn't be available until August.

Possibly a marketing tactic, possibly a result of current manufacturing constraints, not sure. I broke down and bought one, checked back an hour later and there were half as many left, and an hour or two after that checked again and they were gone.

I'm willing to try it for a session or two, if I don't like it maybe I'll try to sell it, if I do like it I'll build some sort of alarm or tracking system to help keep tabs on the cube... Either way long term I wouldn't pay $25 a cube, seems $5 would be more reasonable if it works as advertised.

Anyone else pick one up this weekend?

I'll post a review once I get it and use it a few nights.

Kamui manafactures have figured out how to make a few dollars for them selves,good for them..nothing wrong with that.
I shot with a moori for a few years,the only problem I had was,I would mashroom the tip..but that was because I would break an jump with it...dumb ass..lol..so I'm back to a triangle tip,4 dollars an masters chaulk .25..granted..I'll never be a strong player,but I do enjoy the game.
I have regionals coming up,maybe I'll win again this year,if not I'll think about changing my tip an chaulk..who knows what will happen.

If you don't want to lose you 25$ cube of chalk, purchase a custom caulk holder.

I've read all the reviews on the chalk. I finally got to shoot with it on my cue this week.I got to use a fellow players while shooting league. I must say that it was pretty darn good. I shot 40+ shots in 9ball without miscuing. I used some extreme english on many shots and it was very solid. It did feel awkward at first but after a few games I really felt confident in it.

I will give in and probably jump on the Kamui chalk bandwagon..:)
