Kamui chalk review!!!

A Repost>>>>Well guys & gals i did something i said wouldnt happen till i have a t-rex for a pet,i bought a piece that a friend (charlie's pro-shop in balto,Md)gave me for $20 sealed(its only 1 cheap game of 9 ball).Took it for a spin in a 4 hour session of 9,10 ball & race to 3 1 hole last nite & as much as i hate to say it(after riding the bandwagon of naysayers)this shit works(man that hurt to type), i tested it to see how many racks i could go without rechalking( i heard the BS claims about 6 racks ect.) & on avg. i got 12 balls, not 1 miscue & in fact its a confidence builder the more you use it & i can spin the rock at extremes.I wi-wil-will(damn its hard to say this) buy this chalk again with NO regret, i still keep a piece of blue diamond in the case as back up but now push it farther down deeper in the pocket like a red headed step child.

I'm with you, I chalk after every shot need it or not. So I'm thinking if I used kamui I'd wind up with a clump of paste on my tip. Also if I miscue it was my stroke not my chalk.
I'm curious if any pros are using kamui chalk.
Don't take my post the wrong way,I'm not bad mouthing kamui chalk in anyway if you like it use it.

I still chalk after every shot, just lighter.
I haven't noticed much wear on the cube at all

However, no apologies will be forthcoming from those who maliciously defamed Kamui as thieves and con-artists.

But it is nice to see that SOME folks who were negative are now trying it out.

...i tested it to see how many racks i could go without rechalking ....

Curious as to when you felt you needed to rechalk.
Are you checking the tip after each shot, waiting for a miscue or some other trigger?
Seems most peeps chalk in their PSR so wondering how difficult it would be to break that habit.

as far as shots go, a buddy and I tried an experiment the other night....

We got to the pub to shoot a couple games on the BB and watch the ball game, and we both scuffed and chalked up with kamui. I then put the chalk back in the bag, and back in the cue case, and we were to try to not chalk up again.

We played 10 games of 8 ball, both running down to no more than two balls left before the 8 dropped, (min of 50 shots, assuming the same person lost every game... which I did....) Neither of us re-chalked all night, (actually only about 1.5 hrs) and Neither of us mis-cued.

To date, that is the longest experiment I have tried with the chalk, and figure it to be between 60-80 shots with no miscues, and applying enough english on every shot to get good position.

I HAVE MISCUED WITH KAMUI CHALK, but it was a poor stroke on a ball locked against the rail. I set the shot up again after missing and without rechalking, hit it quite acceptably.

I like what everybody is saying about the Kamui chalk. I'd love to try it, but for me it would be very difficult to break up my pre shot routine of chalking every shot.

I like that it keeps everything clean though, I come home some nights feeling like I've shook hands with all of the blue man group lol :)

I agree with you. We are creatures of habit and it will be hard to break the habit of chalking after every shot.

It's my opinion but nobody needs a $25 piece of chalk.
But if your using it & believe it has helped your game, more power too you!
Keep using it.

I would like to try it but not spending 25 $$ Maybe the CO. needs to make up free samples and ship em out to everyone.

A sample piece of chalk about the size of a pencil eraser!!! lol:)

I go to Vegas with no intention of spending $25.00 on a cube of chalk. I play with a Kamui medium tip on my cue. I see the Kamui setup and they have a 5 person challenge for $5.00 a person and the winner gets a cube of Kamui. I want to try the chalk so I talk 3 of my teamates into risking $5.00 for a cube. I score the highest so lucky me I can win if I put up another $5.00 to insure I get the chalk. The chalk is like paste and goes on smooth. When I shoot it feels like the cue tip stays on the cue ball longer. I am no where close to the league of Efren, but I can impart english like never before. The chalk imparts so much english I quit using it in the tournament because I wasn't use to it and would miss my shape. I am at home now and practicing with the chalk, it is consistant and reliable. I can shoot 20 shots with extreme english before I need to chalk. I never miscue unless I try to shoot 40 shots with extreme english. Before when I would use Masters I would sometimes have the cue ball squirt off the tip of the cue. This doesn't seem to happen with Kamui chalk. You will have to learn to only chalk once a game or it sticks to the cue ball. I do believe that it is rediculous to pay $25.00 for a cube of chalk, but if it lasts for 1 year and you never miscue. Guess you need to decide for yourself.

Is it actually Chalk? or a substitute synthetic or something intended for the same purpose as actual chalk? I have never heard of a waxy or greasy chalk.

Hi All,
When describing the chalk... I cringe when I read or hear "greasy" or "muddy" or "creamy". I know it is in our nature to objectify something that is foreign to us. The Kamui Chalk is far from being greasy and muddy. The Compound is humidity resistant. It is soft feeling and has a slight stick to it.

Our promise to you is we are never satisfied with the products we produce and when we can push science to the extreme... we will. And we will produce the best for YOU.

is this chalk that hard to get? at 25 bucks a piece i would think they would have a good supply of it....i would like a piece and dont mind paying it but i cant find anyone who supplies it:confused: you would think they would be able to keep up with the supply and demand but maybe not...

Seems like the chalk is well liked, too bad it's not like $5 or even $10 but like many things these days when new tend to be overpriced. That being said, I may try a piece. Still curious though on a few points, some that were asked earlier:

- Since it lasts so long, in competitive situations, are people literally just chalking once a rack, once every other, ??? I could probably get out of the habit as part of the PSR to chalk, would be harder to avoid that impulse right before shooting a stroke shot of some sort…

- Does it hurt if you do over apply the chalk?

- Does the chalk mark from hitting the cue ball stay longer, which could increase the chance of a skid, or does the chalk still come off the cue ball normally as it rolls along the table?

To me, it feels like sidewalk chalk.

Sometimes it might be better to get 20% of the chalk market at $5 or so a cube versus .0001% of the chalk market at $25 / cube.

Just my humble opinion.

I never buy chalk. I graze for it. If I find a good cube in the pool room or the bar I put it in my case and use it when worn out cubes are all that is availible. But if I find a cube of Kamui chalk I will try it. I'm sure it is a fine product and I am looking forward to finding a cube.

Seems kinda funny but I bet there will be many of us asking for a piece of Kamui chalk for Christmas this year.

I wouldn't mind getting one in my stocking. As long as I'm not paying for it.

What do you want for Christmas this year honey?
A piece of chalk.
