Kamui - new tips

This seems to be the consensus with Kamui tips. So that begs the question: Why not just label them with the "correct" hardness? The Super Soft would actually be called Soft, the Soft would be called Medium, and so on. Things would actually represent their characteristics rather than be slightly misleading.
 
According to Cuebux.com, the new Kamui tip is susposed to replace the Kamui II and the Kamui Black. It susposed to be out Aug. 15.
 
Remember, The chart above are the new Kamui™ Tips soon to be released Mid August. All the tips have been improved on based on some more technology breakthroughs we had with making sure the consistency is even better. The brown and the black are both humidity resistant. Also notice the Medium Soft is no longer being made. If you are a Med/Soft fan we shifted it to the Soft. We have also figured out how to make an even softer brown tip and we call it the SS. The benefit to all this is that there will no longer be confusion.

Study the chart... Which "New" Kamui™ Tip are you?

If you were a Med/Soft brown... Go with the Soft Brown.

Things to think about when you are shopping for a tip.

1. Do you like a hard tip or a soft tip?
2. Do you love getting ball placement on the table or are you into making the shot... In other words, If you like ball placement you want to go with one of the black tips because they have more elasticity to them and therefore you can get more ball spin with less force on the ball.
Typical 9-ball player would like the black for the reason of ball control.
Typical 8-ball player wants to accurately pocket the balls.

So, study the chart.... Which do you think you would be?

And do not forget, when you take off layers you also take down the elasticity of the tip to gripping the ball.

This is to help you understand the purpose of your tip.

I forgot one more thing. If you are experiencing miss-cue understand that you need to break up the surface of the tip to accept chalk again. All tips that have any porosity to the leather will experience this problem. You can not get away from it. Proper tip maintenance before every match will prevent this problem. I had a sniper on my Ultra X shaft which I loved, it was shaved down pretty low but played great. I'm interesting in trying the black medium but not sure if I go with that or the hard? I'm afraid the hard will be too hard for regular playing

The hard may be too hard for you... Try this, go with the medium, if it is not hard enough for you take it down a layer until you find the sweet spot. If you do not find that sweet spot. go with the hard.

If, off the bat, the Medium is too hard... Then you need the Soft.

Study the chart, you can make the best judgment for you.

For me, I love playing 9-ball. I am a Kamui Black Soft.(with my regular shaft)
BUT, My Dominiak D2 shaft I like the KBSS. At times I like getting more spin on the ball depending on the table and felt I am playing on.

Kamui™ Tips was developed by an avid player in Japan. Masato Hiraoka. His biggest frustration was consistency from other brands. His game could not get to the next level because of that issue. Once he would find a good tip he hated replacing it because the next one was a struggle to get used to it. (consistency) Like taking 3 steps forward and 4 steps back... You can never get to that next level.
 
Joey, I was at one of Shannons tournaments, and he asked me if i had tried this tip. I told him it might be the only one i hadn't tried before going back to a lepro and triangle. He told me it was the best tip he had ever used and would never use anything else. I know i'm fixing to give them a try.

i had a kamui and i replaced it because it glazed over too.

Thanks for the heads-up about Shannon- Kamui.

Our own Donny Mills likes the Kamui tips as well. I think I'm going to try the Tan/Brown Medium first.

It was nice to hear that BOTH of the tips are designed for humidity. I can't imagine what they do to the leather to accomodate humidity but I like the idea that the tips were designed by a player.

i carry sand paper in my bag but that's it. it even happened when i used the sand paper first.

the tip played great at first. after that though i started miscueing a lot.

i like 'em and i'll try another but as of right now i'm in between tips.
 
O... I believe someone asked what shape their tip should be.... Nickel or Dime is fine. Stick to what you have been playing with... Nickel or Dime... and then adjust or change after you have started playing with the New Kamui Tip.

I'm curious too but I just put on a Kamui Tan Medium and it is playing fine.

I had some good play today. No miscues and all the English I need.

So far, so good. (these are the "old" ones)
 
Bump for some input on the "New Kamui Black" tips.

Anybody notice *ANY* Difference in play/feel between the new and old ones???
 
Kamui Black Soft. Beats Moori Medium, and Everest. All I have to say. Kamui is the nuts imo.
 
Had a few Moories took them off and went back to triangle and lepro.Tried the SS and it seems like a whole new evolution in the game.I was never sold on any layered or gimmic type things but the Kamui is in my opinion the best advance since plastic balls.I would suggest not wasting time with anything but the Super Soft it is incredible!

I personally put Kamui tips on Mika's, Rodney's and Donny Mills cues, I also stock about every tip there is, and I play with a Kamui also. :thumbup:
