I put a Kamui Blk Medium on a Joss this week end at a bar I never do this normally but the guy wanted it now and I did it by hand, I used Gorilla super glue, the tip would not stick, I did prep the back with glue prior and scored the back and pressed the tip at my store before going to the bar tournament.......after 30min being put on at the bar it held........the guy play's with it 45min. later about the 6th hit " BOING " there goes the tip...I have never had this hard of a time to get the tip to hold...I normally do them only in my shop.....what is the norm for waiting to use a new tip and my glue is about 7-8 months old, .... I seen on here people liking Loctite ultra gel with the black wrapper.......

Your glue is old!!! Throw it away!!!! Once it is open use it as quickly as possible. If you want to extend the shelf life of any CA keep it refrigerated.

I agree sounds like old glue that has went bad. It doesn't actually have to harden up in the tube to go bad. I have even had glue straight from the pack that was no good to begin with.

I have only had to re glue one Kamui, but that was on a really small ferrule diameter, so there wasn't much glue surface to work with. It held up fine the second time I installed It though.

I tried the impact resistant Gorilla glue when it first came out and had the same problem I stick with the Ultra or cue components tip glue
when you by from local hardware stores freshness can be an issue

I use loc-tite Ultra myself and once opened, I get the lid back on as quickly as possible and then I only use for three weeks before throwing away.

I talked to a chemist at Loc-tite once a number of years ago and he told me to keep all super type glues refrigerated until opened and then not to refrigerate that tube/bottle again as air will enter the bottle which contains moisture and the cold turns that moisture into condensate which is what ruins super glues.

GG CA does not set up consistantly...........

To prevent Kamui or Moori tips from popping off................

Sand the tip and put a puddle of thin CA on the tip. Be sure to cover the whole tip. Let it sit a minute and then blot whats left off the tip with a paper towel.

Spray some kicker on it.

Lightly sand it.

Put a bubble of Loctite CA gel in the middle of the tip.

Stick it on the ferrule and rub it around to get full coverage.

Press it on in the center for 10 seconds.

Cut and shape.

Home Depot is the worst place to buy CA's from.
Go to Walmart and get the recommended Loctite pro.

The best one is Loctite 454 from a good source imo.

here is BSI's answer which backs that up http://www.bsi-inc.com/Pages/ask_the_pros/index.html#2

If I'm having trouble,
I use the loctite 495 and hit the ferrule with kicker first.
