Kamui tips

It was a year or little bit more when i tried it. It was a medium/soft one. I had no delamination issues and it was installed by a local repairer who is 30 years in business and i had no issues with others concerning installation. I put him to check the installation and he examined it thoroughly and it was fine installed. I had heard rumors about the "ding" noises that they produce and i found this myself. But, this was a quite time ago and i guess several improvements took place since then. I might give a try once again in near future but i think, still, the moori meds can't get beat up. A "click" cheaper than mooris would make them an excellent choice. But more expensive, no way.

I have met several phillipino players in various tournaments.Many of them play with a blue diamond or an elkmaster tip.
What they do is they keep the tip press for about 2 to 3 days and than they put it on the cue.Press is like compress it.
I have same tip installed on my cue from phillipines and it plays awesome.They have rather soft hit but excellent action on the cue ball and they are extremely cheap.Anyone who likes medium soft to soft hit would love em.I have played with kamui medium tips and find the bit on the harder side.

I agree with you on price. They went up against the most popular layered tip on the planet and made theirs more expensive. Maybe that was their way of saying that had the Rolls Royce of cue tips. Who knows but I also wish they were a little less expensive.
 
I installed the MSII and MII. I'm Always looking for a better tip and shot with each for a couple weeks. To me they felt slippery (like touching a bar of soap) and didn't hit the way I want my cues to play.
I have a few higher level players in town that are willing to try any FREE tip I put on their extra shaft. If they don't like the tip I put their favorite brand back on at my expense. They're always looking for a better game and didn't like the Kamui enough to keep them. They might be stubborn or didn't give them enough time but with their feedback and mine I don't promote Kamui's.
 
Well, I think this topic could be discussed the next couple of months...
Everybody have their own taste/preferences, some like this, other like that and I think we at the end just have to conclude that we like to use what ever we feel fit's our own or customers taste.

I think it would be hard to make a product every body simply just loves and want's where nobody has nothing to complain about :smile:

As mentioned, I have customers which has left Moori for Kamui and they have all the tips they want, available in the marked.

I can't speak for the other parts of the country, but in the Atlanta area the soft Kamui is the hottest tip behind the Moori. I sell medium, medium soft and soft in about equal numbers to mail order customers, but local people are choosing the soft Kamui more often.

How do you store them Chris ?

As I have seen on you're DVDs, don't store them in the plastic organizers ;)

Ref my first post in this thread, they keep fresh much longer by proper storage and I felt a big difference during install (still using the knife from the ferrule side).

Some of the best players over here has parked Moori in favor of the Kamuis.

I did a "blind test" by preparing 4 OB-1 shafts with stock tip (Everest - by Tiger), Soft Moori, S Kamui and MS Kamui and handed this over to the best player in Norway. He got third in the European Championship (14.1) and he eliminated the Moori and the S Kamui where he liked the Everest and the MS Kamui.

Second ranked player locally had the same outcome. All tests was done with the latest supply directly from Japan.

Both players had no biased opinions since they have not heard about the Kamuis at all (I have mostly introduced them over here) before they tested them.

But then again, it's all about personal preferences.

Personally I think the first batch I received from the US made a funny hard sound which was for sure not connected to the OB-1 shafts.

Anyway, just some experiences over here in Norway.

same as Nashville.Kamui is by far the hottest tip going,soft and med soft.i like the osft after you trim them down to 4-5 layers and get a week or two of play in.i would day that Kamuis are 3:1 picked over Mooris now around here.

I'll do the same for my customers. The tip is as we know VERY thick so there is much tip for the money for those who like to play with a thick tip.I do however always reduce the height to something close to a normal tip, since many players scratch their head and say, "wow this is almost as thick as my ferrule" (ref some McDermott I users)... :grin:

i cut 2-3 layers off the top,install then trim.they are tought to trim if you leave them full.i have actually tried cutting them in half to get 2 tips out of the deal,but i felt they were too small doing that.
