Hi everyone, and thank you in advance for any input anyone has.

I have a chance to pick up a Karella cue. I've done some searching online, and one of the few things I can find is that Pete Tascarella had a hand in some of the earlier cues. Apparently some of the earlier models were extremely well made. But he opted out after some time because the quality was not up to his standards.

Anyone have any other information regarding these cues ? Or how I might tell if the cue in question is from the "Tascarella era" ?

Just double ck and you should be good to go-

If Pete Tasc- has anything to do with it - its good in my bk. Whats the cues price?? mark

Karrella Cues

Back in the mid '90's I sold Adam, Helmstetters, Karella's and more . I was told by the Distributor the Korella was the best he had , "this is what I shoot with ' he said . I ordered one . Nice cue , but for the difference in price , I gave it back . The inlays were so rounded on the ends, not a sharp on the cue . Quality was good , just couldn't stand the inlays . Jim

The seller is asking $225. I'm going to try and talk him down a bit.

This cue only has inlays in the butt, nothing in the forearm. I've been able to find a few older catalogs/flyers online regarding Karella cues, but those are loaded with inlays and such, and MSRP on those runs around $500 to start.
Looks like a decent stick, I just want to find a realistic value for it.

I used a Karella when I was a kid.If I remember correctly I was a decent hitting cue.
Do you remember what the joint pin was on your cue ? Or any identifying marks ? I'm hoping to find something that will tell me more about when the cue I'm interested in was made. The cue I'm looking at has 'Karella' written in cursive on the butt cap.

Its just a disposable cue.

At $225, what makes a difference?

If it plays how you like, buy the cue. If not, buy something else.

not saying its mickeys case but some people dont have $225 to throw away. i dont mind paying fair market for a cue but i would be p*ssed to pay $225 for a cue that might be only worth $50.

Thanks for the input. Believe me, I wish I could play a few games with it.

My problem is that the person selling the cue (a friend of a friend) lives out of town. Getting my hands on it would be a bit of a hassle.
I realize that the hit, feel, and everything else is subjective. It's more or less the quality of the cue I'm concerned about. And like Lorider says, I'm not interested in overpaying for something, either.

My purpose for starting the thread is basically to find out if it's worth the time and effort to have the cue shipped to me to 'test drive'.
