Karen Corr - the only woman player advancing to the 2nd round!

Impressed!

She is ripping the ass out of a few big named men!!

lost her first match to Kim Davenport 8-4, but gathered herself and wowed the crowd by downing Jose Parica, 8-4; Grady Mathews, 8-1 and Johnny Archer, 8-3.

Corr’s last match had spectators on the edges of their seats as Nick Van den Berg went ahead 7-2, but she dug deep and ended Van den Berg’s unbeaten run through the day.

Karen did good. She should have been the one chosen to play against Sigel instead of Loree John Jones. I don't think Loree with make it out of the first round in a weak field.

IMHO, they left out one of the best females.

Ga Young Kim!! She has personally made both Karen and Allison her play things in the last few tourneys they have met up.. and she only 21!!

LOOK OUT FOR THE LIL' DEVIL!!!!!!!
:)
PS
What a BOD!! to go with that stroke!! and Cannon Ball break!!!!!!
;)

WooHoo! Thats my horse. It may be for the 2006 season but I am liking my Karen > Allison bet even more now.

They didn't, Karen was the only one to advance.

There were only 4 women in the whole field. I would say the women did outstanding.

Allison had a winning record (3-2), she did not advance only because of the tie breaker GLI. In fact, she beat Feijen who advanced with the same overall record of 3-2. I am not complaining about how players advance, just pointing out that Allison did very well, and missed advancing by the thinest of margins.

Granted, Greda and Helena did not fair so well but it is a gross misrepresentation to say the women have not done well. Two women did not fair so well, but neither did Morris, Souquet, Williams, etc.

As of right now, Karen is the ONLY player in day two to win the first two matches. I would say this is a strong showing.

To make the comment "They didn't" really shows how much this must stick in your gut. It takes a small person to not give credit where credit is due.

I keep telling everyone karen tops allison ineveryway she plays better and looks better doing it ...Go karen!!

I apologize if you found my first post offensive, I should've explained what I meant isntead of throwing out a one liner response that could be easily misunderstood. I was simply trying to say that I was hoping 2 out of the 4 girls would advance (namely Allison and Karen) and was a little disapointed that only Karen advanced.

I'm not rooting against the female players as your response above seems to indicate. As a matter of fact, I even made a bet with one of my friends that Allison would make it out of the first round.

Then you keep misleading them. In 2005, Fisher won the Amway Cup, the BCA Open and the US Open as well as some other WPBA titles, a far stronger effort than that of Karen Corr this year.

Karen Corr is a magnificent player, but Allison left her in the dust this year.

Like you, I'm a big Karen Corr fan, but the truth is the truth, and this year, even a Karen Corr fan must give Allison Fisher her due.

As to who "looks better doing it", that's a toughie. They both look great to me.

I think the fact that Karen plays on the Joss Tour with high caliber male players has really upped her game to the next level when it comes to tournament play.

Go to the WPBA website and check the brackets of the last few tourneys, and there was a link on AZ about the challenge of champions tourney that she beat Corr, and then dismantled Allison 5-1, and then 5-0 in the finals.

some problems.

It's obvious to me that most people on this forum don't get what high caliber play is really about. Because one female went to the second round, and beat a few of the top males in one match does not mean that women are doing well. First off, I admit that women's play has increased in quality over the last few years, but you're still talking about the top two ranked female players in the world and only one of them gave even a modicum of a showing against the male players.

I'm not knocking their game, in fact just the opposite. A lot of people are acting surprised that Karen got as far as she did and did as well as she did.

There's absolutely nothing surprising about this at all. She didn't win against the players that are doing the best in this tournament which is what one would expect.

At this level of play anyone can beat anyone on any given day, it's the people's whose games are locked in that you have to watch to see whose better. Karen's game was locked in. She managed to beat top ranked male players in a match. More power to her. She also is the only one not to board at all in a match. I guess Neils didn't like losing to Allison the day before so he turned it on and just spanked Karen yesterday plus he only had two break and runs in that match so it's not like she didn't get a chance to play.

If she would've beaten Neils and Bustamante, (whose just lit up on fire), then you could jump up and down and say now that wasn't expected and like I said , they're doing better, but let's avoid patting each other on the ass yet.

Let's wait and see how the HOF'ers do.
