All I can say is: thanks to the pool Gods.

I played this guy last night a cheap game. I ran down to my last ball before the 8 ball and it was lined up perfectly for a 4 rail bank. I'd use the cuetable thing, but I hope the bank I'm talking about is familiar to you all. Anyway, that's not the point. The guy is watching and I point my stick towards the pocket and say "right there". I line up obviously driving the ball into the rail and not trying to cut it in. I never even looked back to see it hit the 3rd and 4th rails. I kept my eye on the intended pocket the entire time. Bam...I sunk it. I was happy because I left myself perfect on the 8 ball and of course made the 4 rail bank. Well, I see him get up with his cue and walk up the table. I told him I made my shot and he replied with "youuuu didn't call thaaaaat" with this disgusted look on his face. I told him I did call that and he got all pissed off and walked away waving his hand in my face as if to say "whatever". So I yell back at him to go ahead and take the shot. He said no still all pissed off but I insisted. After he won, I informed him that I was an honest guy and asked him where exactly he thought I was going. Anyway, next game he missed an easy shot and left me perfect on the 8 ball. I said "karma's a b%$#, ha?". hahaha! Would you all have let him shoot like I did or keep on shooting as it's not my fault he wasn't paying attention to my shot or just didn't believe it could go in. I guess I should have explicitely stated that it would be a 4 rail bank but we just call a ball and a pocket so I saw no point.

test...well, this is roughly the shot I'm talking about. I can see it on the table but can't draw out exactly how it goes.

I wouldn't have relented the game in the first place. You called the pocket and made the ball in the called pocket. What more are you required to do?

I'd have had to listen to him whine the whole night. I knew I could get my money back and figured that was the easier way out. Oh, second game was for double or nothing. He quit me after that. Weak.

good shot,

what i do if i'm in one of those spots, is i make eye contact with the other player and tell him the shot, rails, and pocket and ask if he understands clearly, i nod my head and see if he does-if he dosent i show him again so there is no doubt about whats gonna happen, to many bad things can happen, even if he knows you called it he might pull a move. but when you get the other guy to nod his head they never get mad at you but they usually pull up from the game, whitch is better than a fight, it is the obligation of the player to explaine to the opponent the shot to the extent that there is no question of whats about to happen like the trick shot guys do at exebitions

I agree to a point but when we agree to ball-in-hand and call your ball and your pocket before the match, I didn't see why I'd have to jump through so many hoops. I do know guys that actually want to play to where you call every rail, every ball, etc...but that's not what we agreed upon. I think he was just snoozing and waiting to shoot.

Nice shot but personally I would never attempt such a shot. Either cut or safe. But thats me. Like some others said..if its call pocket then it doesn't matter how the ball gets to the intended pocket. It could go 5 rails caroming off three balls, if it goes in it counts.

I would have made eye contact as well and made sure he knew exactly what I was gonna play especially since shooting a four railing from there was, no offense, kinda silly.

Sorry guys. That was my first time using cue table and I wasn't trying to portray the entire table, just the shot as I mentioned. There was one of his balls blocking the cut shot. You'd be surprised how easy that shot is once you practice it a bit. I make it a good percentage of the time and it scares the crap out of people. :)

Just as Mosconiac said - which I believe is an accurate paraphrase of BCA rules. For the math folks: (call a pocket) + (ball goes in pocket) = *you keep shooting). I love math.

The 5th rail I would have hit would have been his head with my cue butt. Then taken my $. Johnnyt

That's hilarious
I can't say I wasn't angry and I also can't say I wasn't an a$$ that second game. I made sure I called every pocket and that he acknowledged it each time. I have a bit of a temper problem but I've been working on that...lucky for him.
