Keith vs Slivka?

Hey Keith (or JAM if she's reading this), rumor has it that you're gonna be playing with Slivka this Tuesday evening out in Laurel... Is that game still going on?

Also, I hear Pooky is giving Danny Green the last two for a few thousand this weekend, who do you like in that game?

The challenge match between Slivka and Keith has been rescheduled for next week due to work commitments.

Pookie giving Danny the last two? I like Danny Green in this game. However, Keith said he sort of likes Pookie in this match-up. Both players have endurance and can go the extra mile. This sounds like it's going to be an all-night battle, especially if they play a head set! (LOL)

Jerry Slivka's Status

Keith/JAM,

Jerry Slivka grew up around here in Pittsburgh and is considered probably the best player from the Pittsburgh area in the last 20 years or so (except maybe when the bushwhacker Gary Nolan moved here from Michigan). My question is how is Jerry thought of down there among all the players like:
Keith McCready, Ryan McCreesh, Shaun Wilkie, Pooky, Brian O'Donnell, Shorty Henson, Danny Green etc. Where does he fit in the pecking order? Also, what about Don Steele? I was just talking to him at a tournament a couple of weeks ago and he told me he knows Keith pretty well? He's a pretty cool guy (quiet and humble). I grew up watching him at the place I grew up playing pool in the 70's: Pinky's Pool Parlor in Turtle Creek, PA. Have you ever been there Keith?

Also, two years ago at Valley Forge I got to sit beside JAM when Keith was playing a match. We spoke a few words to eachother. Hopefully, I can say hello to both of you this time at Valley Forge.....maybe even have you both up to the room and have a Bud.....listen to some tunes......and watch some NCAA March Madness! Peace :D

9ballkeeng, Jerry is respected as one of the best 9-ball players in this area. As you know, he has that BIG break and a high gear which a lot of players don't. I try to play him the other games when we match up because he out-breaks me 2 to 1, and he is hard to beat. I have to have my "A" game to beat him.

I've never been to Pinky's Pool Parlor. I do know Don Steele, and he is a good friend of mine. I've known him for years. He used to watch me play when I was real young back in the '70s in California. Today, he still plays well. I hope when I'm his age, I'm still even hitting a pool ball. His wife is as nice as he is, a real class act, both of them.

I'm planning on being at Valley Forge. I'll take you up on that Bud, too! ;)

Negotations are currently underway for this challenge exhibition. Because of the Super Bowl weekend and work commitments of involved parties, it's been difficult to hook up. AND another little ingredient which enters the fray is that Slivka has respectfully requested some weight from Keith as opposed to playing even.

You should have moseyed on over to Bill and Billie's in Arnold the other night and checked out the marathon match on the 12-foot snooker table between Nick "The Bald Guy" Prinsloo and Keith which ended at 4:00 a.m. when the pool room closed. The tab was 150 bucks for time. It wasn't a happy ending for the McCready camp (LOL)! :eek:

BTW, since you're a local, there's a new room that opened up in Gaithersburg called Firestone Cue. It's the old Buffalo Billiards right next to the railroad tracks on East Diamond Avenue.

The place is really cool, comfy and warm with sofas. The food is EXCELLENT, and there is plenty of good cheer. You can sit back and enjoy the activities and gaze out the windows and see the trains roaring by at full speed. It's a very unique room, and I really like it. We went to a Super Bowl pool charity event there last evening which was raising monies for Children's Miracle Network. They currently have league nights during the weekdays, and the new owners of Firestone Cue are eager to hold some upcoming tournaments, which is great news for all of us in this area! :D

We're going to be in Laurel tomorrow night. You never know who's going to show up or what may happen. ;)

It was pretty exciting, too. The last few games I watched, one person would be up about 25 or 26 points going into the colors, just to have the other guy scoop up the last 27 points to win by 1 or 2 points!

Some nice runs by both players, too, it was defiantely worth it to watch!
