Kersenbrock On Ebay

Not for nothing.. I saw this cue at VF and it never ceases to amaze me that people won't send cues out for a letter. A cue like this would be worth much more with provenance.

JOE,
THAT'S WHAT HAD ME CONFUSED ABOUT THE LISTING. IT STATES THAT LAURIE FRANKLIN JUST HAD THE CUE, AND THAT SHE ALSO FEELS THAT IT'S A KERSENBROCK, BUT THE SELLER DIDN'T MENTION A LETTER. IF LAURIE THOUGHT IT WAS A KERSENBROCK I FIGURED THEY WOULD HAVE A LETTER WITH. THE SHIPPING BACK AND FORTH TO VEGAS, WITH THAT AMOUNT OF INSURANCE WOULD COST MORE THAN THE LETTER. SEEMED A LITTLE FISHY TO ME.

you think the guy would have found a friend or somebody that has higher ebay feedback then 6 to list a cue of that price.. that also makes it fishy that they are such a big collector but then again it seems they dont sell much on ebay.. so why start with such a huge $$ cue...

Cheaper...

Cheaper to take southwest airlines to Chicago and have DPK look at it personally--they you can get some nice money games and get the flight back for free.

I have some experience with this. I sent my Kersenbrock to Laurie to authenticate it, because when I bought it the guy that sold it to me said it was a franklin era Southwest. Laurie suspected that it might be a DPK, but she could not tell for sure without removing the wrap. I am not sure what it was under the wrap that told her it was David's work, but that is what she needed to do. Since I was sending it in for a restore rewrap anyway I said Ok go ahead and remove the wrap.

Once she did this she authenticated it and gave me a letter. Due to the rarity of this cue (supposedly) the guy must not have wanted to change the wrap to keep it original. Laurie probably would not authenticate it for him either without removing the wrap.

Only person who would know for sure (without removing the wrap) is probably DPK. All that being said it may still be a fake or a Helmstetter.

Reading this post reminded me of a story, and I have to ask.

Do you think, in this case, Laurie, can 100% identify a DPK cue ?

That is really cool, but what I mean is, who is going to know if she is wrong ?

Laurie won't identify DPKs that were made after Dave left SW's shop.

I heard through the grapevine

....that Laurie has also authenticated a couple of SW copies as SW.
I dont know for sure, hearsay--I believe none of what I hear. Perhaps someone knows for sure.
