Kiamco and Breedlove Win Cards

Warren Kiamco won 10 to 8 against Breedlove

Breedlove wins 10-5 against Boyes.

Coming in third in any of these qualifiers must be the toughest loss these players have ever had. I bet nothing comes close..

Warren Kiamco Newest Addition to IPT

Sunday, February 26, 2006 - 4:50 a.m.

Warren Kiamco of the Philippines just became the newest addition to the International Pool Tour, which is having its fourth qualification event in Chelmsford, MA, this weekend. Kiamco bested George Breedlove in the winners’-side final match 10-8.

In a battle between two southpaws, Breedlove gained an early three-game lead, but Kiamco, though troubled with his break, tied the match at 5 apiece. From there, the players traded racks—Breedlove made several errors, and Kiamco kept coming up dry on his breaks. “That’s a working man’s stroke right there,” said Breedlove after pushing another bead over to his side of the string. “I’ve been swinging too many hammers.”

After knotting the score at 8 apiece, Breedlove came up empty on his following break and muttered, “I deserve it.” Kiamco cleared to reach the hill, and then a stripe was nudged in by another on his final break. He ran out to win the match 10-8 and cried, “Yes!”

“I’m feeling good. I’m still shaking,” Kiamco admitted afterward. “I break maybe five times and didn’t make a ball. When I made that last ball, that was a lucky break. I made a lucky combination.”

Any plans to celebrate? “I’m still shaking, I’m sorry,” he replied. “I didn’t drink, but now maybe I drink a lot,” he said with a laugh.

Earlier in the one-loss side, Robb Saez bested Antonio Lining in a hill-hill battle, and Karl Boyes of the UK eliminated Gary Abood 10-6. Boyes and Saez are currently playing, and the winner will play Breedlove for the second IPT card.

Mike Sigel played two last matches this afternoon. Chris Melling of the UK dealt the Hall of Famer an 8-4 loss, but Sigel took it out on Germany’s Kevin Becker, who lost the match 8-4.

Tanner,
Thanks for the article. One minor correction, Breedlove is NOT a southpaw. Plays righty (but extremely good opposite handed or jacked up).

First time I ever played straight pool with him, he picked up a curvy house cue, ran 45 from the opening break jacked up one handed, then ran 42 left handed. Super tight table. I knew right then I should keep my day job.

Just a typo on the IPT website (which has since been corrected)... Tanner has been watching for the live updates and posting them here when they're up on the IPT site.

Tanner, thanks for watching things and posting them right away. :)
