Kid Delicious in NY Times

This is hard for me to understand.

Not a bad article except for one sentence within the article.

"When Kid Delicious is playing good, the whole poolroom knows it, he said." "His breaks sound like a plane hitting the Empire State Building."

You would think that a writer for the N.Y. Times could come up with a better analogy than this, given the terrible 9-11 tradgedy that happened within the state of New York. Do these writers not have proofreaders that could point out the negativity of something like this.
 
A nice article indeed. But I personally thing they couldve found another sentence for the sound of his break other than "sounds like a plane hitting the empire state building". Just a little close to home with 9/11 for me. But thats just my .02.

Thanks for that Bud. I got Danny's book the other day. I read the first chapter then got busy doing other things the next day. I'll finish reading it Monday when the pain...ummm I mean my wife goes back to work. Johnnyt
 
And the best line in the article is this one by Danny, ?When you?re young, you learn all the hard shots,? he explained, ?and then when you get better, you learn how not to need them.?
 
A friend threw out this joke when we were talking about this article:

"What's the difference between a pool player and a pizza?"

"A pizza can feed a family of four"
 
I cleared my throat when I read the Empire State Building comment too. I thought that was a super-bad choice of analogies.

In defense of the reporter, I think he was actually quoting Danny when he mentioned the empire state building analogy. He mentioned earlier in the article that Danny likes to refer to himself in the third person as Kid Delicious instead of the first person pronoun. That's why the reporter put it in quotes.
All in all, it was a great article about a great player and a big plus for the game. Thanks for posting this.

Yes the reporter was quoting Danny but the reporter could have chose to left that quote out of his story. Johnnyt

Ive heard it as "what do a medium pizza and a pool player have in common?"

Niether can feed a family of four.
