I just bought my new cue from Charles and I have got to say I have never felt or seen anything like this before!

A while back I made the comment that custom cue makers charge too much for there wares. I retract that statement.

This thing is awesome! It is cocobolo with an alfezia burl grip, ivory joint, with over 70 ivory inlays! The burl is amazing and the deep reddish brown in the cocobolo looks like you could drink it! The whole cue literally glows!

I cannot wait to get home and shoot with it! w00t!!! I will post how a Kikel plays.

Wow, thanks a lot for the pictures. I am envisioning it right now in my mind. But, since I'm on heavy medication, my pictures don't do it justice.

Nice lookin' cue! I dig it, it's even got that new cue smell! Ok, ok maybe I can't smell the picture, but congrats on the purchase. Finding the right cue is alot like findin' the right woman! I'm still workin' on the woman part myself...got that cue thing covered! :thumbup:

Sorry TheNewSharkster... I do not think this cue looks anything like the Jacoby.

Yep, that's a beauty. I got a first hand look at it over at Jamie's house before it was initially shipped. I REALLY like the cue too... Congrats
 
If you had it in your hands why didn't you play with it before you bought it?

I am now also a proud owner of a Kikel that I just bought from Jamie without playing with it. Everthing I read about them is true. You will not be disappointed.

The segmented handle and ring work looks very close. The butt and forearm are different.
 
Kikel!!

Yep looks like another Kikel convert to me!! I sold a Lambros and a Skip Weston and kept my Kikel when I was selling some cues over the last couple years. The other interesting point about Dave's cues is the woods he seems to find. My Kikel has figured redheart that is stunning and I have never seen any other figured redheart period. If you have never hit with one you owe it to yourself to try one if you have the chance..

Best purchase ever!

Wow, I love the way it hits! It has an unusual feel.

It is not a solid hit. It has more of a soft thunk (if you can picture that) Then there is a slight vibration in the cue. Not an uncomfortable rattle but a confident sense of cobntact with the cue ball.

The action that the cue imposes on the ball takes a little getting used to. I am familiar playing with low deflection shafts. Kikels shafts are not low deflection but will put a hell of a lot of spin on the ball. Going back to BHE solved that problem quickly. Draw shots are predictable and follow shots are crisp and surprisingly longer than what I get out of my Scruggs cue.

For my review I will say as I get used to playing with this cue it will definately be my playing cue.

Very nice cue, It dosen't seem like it has 70 pieces of ivory im wondering how many pieces are in my cue.

Yup 10 inlays in each ring and there are 7 rings. Not to mention the joint. (yes, I know the joint is not an inlay)

That is a hell of a cue you got there! Beautiful!
